COMMUNITY NEWS

UCW SOUP CHALLENGE

What: St. Andrew’s UCW challenges you to make a donation to the “School Breakfast Program” at Joseph Howe Elementary School.

Where: From your very own home.

When: The entire month of November.

How:  Everytime you have a bowl of soup in November (or if soup’s not your thing, your favourite meal or treat) .... toss a loonie, toonie (or more) in a jar.

Why:  Help give hungry kids at Joseph Howe Elementary a really great start to their day.  Last year we donated $2,546 to this very worthwhile program, let’s do it again!

Our challenge to you - Eat and Donate for the month of November - make a difference right in your own community!

URGENT CALL FOR COUNTERS

Scott and Ellen Taylor have faithfully and consistently stayed after worship to count the offering. Every... single... Sunday.

Great thanks to them - but we used to have a roster of counters, and that's the right thing for us to do. Please - join the roster, take a turn, so Ellen and Scott can take a break.

It's not difficult, and we will walk you through the process. It's not long - 20 minutes or so after worship. And more who sign up, the fewer the turns. So get your friends to sign up too.

The offerings we receive are worthy of our care and attention. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the sanctuary or send an email by clicking this link.

SOCIAL JUSTICE AT SAINT ANDREW'S

Poppies

We all wear red poppies for Remembrance Day. This Sunday the Social Justice Committee will also have white poppies at a table at church. Learn the history of white poppies and consider wearing one.

It is proposed that effects of poverty can be mitigated by adopting a Guaranteed Livable Income (GLI). GLI replaces the condition-based, multiple federal and provincial income assistance programs with a single, unconditional cash payment delivered through the tax system.

BILL S-233 GLI Framework

Emilea is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Prince Edward Island whose music resonates with the raw beauty of her surroundings. Serene melodies paired with introspective lyrics that cut to the core, Emilea's music offers a glimpse into her soul. She weaves tales inspired by the mysteries of creation, the bonds of human connection, and the transformative journey of motherhood. Her highly anticipated debut album will arrive in July 2025!
