Every year we set aside a day

to honour our dead

and honour our grief ;

and to celebrate

the goodness and mercy of life

It's All Saints Sunday

this week at Saint Andrew's

Remember: Clocks change in the night for daylight savings. Coffee will be on in the sanctuary at 10 am! Thank you to Alison, Onna, and Janet for your constant service. Dear friends, shouldn't they get a Sunday morning off once in a while? Please sign up to make coffee once in a while. Look for the sign up sheet on the sanctuary bulletin board.

UCW SOUP CHALLENGE

What: St. Andrew’s UCW challenges you to make a donation to the “School Breakfast Program” at Joseph Howe Elementary School.

Where: From your very own home.

When: The entire month of November.

How:  Everytime you have a bowl of soup in November (or if soup’s not your thing, your favourite meal or treat) .... toss a loonie, toonie (or more) in a jar.

Why:  Help give hungry kids at Joseph Howe Elementary a really great start to their day.  Last year we donated $2,546 to this very worthwhile program, let’s do it again!

Our challenge to you - Eat and Donate for the month of November - make a difference right in your own community!

A CALL

FOR COUNTERS

Scott and Ellen Taylor have faithfully and consistently stayed after worship to count the offering. Every ... single ... Sunday.

Great thanks to them - but we used to have a roster of counters, and that's the right thing for us to do. Please - join the roster, take a turn, so Ellen and Scott can take a break.

It's not difficult, and we will walk you through the process. It's not long - 20 minutes or so after worship. And more who sign up, the fewer the turns. So get your friends to sign up too.

The offerings we receive are worthy of our care and attention. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the sanctuary or send an email tby clicking this link : email the office

SOCIAL JUSTICE AT SAINT ANDREW'S

Building a Better Present

Join the Ecology Action Centre and the Spiritual Coalition on Climate Action in Nova Scotia (SCOCANS) for a fall gathering! The focus of this free event is to bring people of all faiths together to share knowledge, to learn from one another, and to take action on climate issues. The morning will be filled with storytelling. In the afternoon we'll hear about projects in community and a funding opportunity, followed by a deep dive on what climate actions the SCOCANS group wishes to focus on in the coming months.

Morning storytellers:

  • Dr. Saad Dabbous, Geologist and Imam & Director of Ummah Masjid
  • Bradley Knockwood, Geography student, Aquatic Ecosystem Research Assistant, and VP of SMU Environmental Society
  • Curtis Whylie, Social entrepreneur and founder of the Upper Hammonds Plains Community Land Trust
  • Thierno Diallo, Atlantic Canada Advocacy Officer for the National Council of Canadian Muslims

Afternoon community actions:

  • Dr Tony Charles, Director SMU School of the Environment: Communities in Action
  • Rev'd Marian Lucas-Jeffries, retired Anglican priest: EV Charging Stations in faith building parking lots
  • Dr Camilo Botero, visiting scholar, coastal explorer & researcher: Healthy Coastline project in Sheet Harbour

SCOCANS is dedicated to advocacy for environmental and social justice through supporting faith groups interested in reducing their environmental footprint and providing a platform for exchange between participating groups and individuals. This is a free event with lunch and snacks provided. Please sign up at the link below.
