Bishop candidates complete walkabout

You can still view videos

The candidates nominated to be the ninth Bishop of the Diocese of West Missouri completed their walkabout of the diocese this week.

If you missed attending or seeing one of the live sessions, you can still view videos of the Q and A by going to the website or facebook page of one of the host churches and finding the recording.

Click here to access one of their social media platforms to view the recorded sessions

The candidates in alphabetical order are:

  • The Rev. Jimmy Abbott, Rector, Trinity Episcopal Church, Galveston, TX
  • The Very Rev. Amy Dafler Meaux, Dean and Rector, Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Little Rock, AR
  • The Rev. Dr. Bradley Pace, Rector, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lafayette, IN
  • The Rev. Molly Payne-Hardin, Rector, Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown, NY

Click here for biographical information, professional documents, written responses to a series of questions, and a video featuring short introductions from each of the candidates.

The next Bishop of the Diocese of West Missouri will be elected at the diocesan convention to be held in November. Please let our convention delegates (Father Jonathan, Bill Carle and Jim Gilligan) know your thoughts on the candidates!

New Theater outing in November

Sign-up in the Narthex

Sign-up in the Narthex to see the Saturday matinee performance of An Old-Fashioned Family Murder on Saturday, November 16 at the New Theatre and Restaurant.

Starring TV star and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sally Struthers, this performance was written by Tony Award Winner, Joe DiPietro.

Set in 1942, a junior homicide detective stumbles upon the murder of a famed mystery writer. Trapped in a mansion with several suspects, he finds himself outmatched by the cunning of the killer. His only hope in solving the case is his mystery-loving mother, who luckily is trapped in the mansion with him!

Resurrection receives Diocesan grant

For Narthex addition

Resurrection is very grateful to the Diocese of West Missouri for a $17,500 grant to help in the cost of completing construction to make our building handicap accessible.

The lift has been installed, but we are waiting on replacement glass for panels damaged in shipping. We are also waiting on the railings for the stairs and balcony to arrive. The stair treads should be installed very soon.

Meanwhile, special thanks to Rich Conn and Les Woodward, who continue to work on trim and other projects on the addition.

Outreach Committee seeks volunteers

To continue Uplift ministry

The Outreach Committee is looking for individuals or couples to take the lead on continuing our Uplift ministry.

This involves cooking a dish for 60 once a month in the church kitchen (taking about 3 hours) for later transportation to the Uplift organization for distribution to homeless in Kansas City.

Beverly Hudson has been consistently providing help and sweet treats for those ladled meals and has graciously agreed to continue to do so. Annie and Stew Scott are happy to continue to transport the meals to Uplift.

The Conns will train interested parties. If 4 volunteers were involved, it would involve 3 hours once every two months. If you are interested, please let Rich or Gabe Conn and Pat Carle know!
