| | Sunday Service - February 1 | | |
On the Liturgical Calendar, this is the FEAST OF CANDLEMAS, traditionally a blessing of candles, signifying light for the deepest darks. This Sunday we welcome Rev. Charles Bull, Anglican Priest and Environmentalist. Rev. Bull has deeply explored the question of hope in the reality of climate crisis, and over time, found wisdom in many and varied ways. On Sunday, he begins with the persistent faith of Luke's Simeon.
Susan will offer the Prayers of the People, Julia will sing an old and beautiful hymn, and we'll gather together, as always, in the light of the Christ Candle.
See you Sunday.
UPCOMING SERVICES you won't want to miss:
February 8: Communion
February 15: A Baptism
February 18: Ash Wednesday Service at 6:00 pm
February 22: First Sunday in Lent
Every Wednesday at 6:00 pm: Contemplative Service

Did you know we have 22 partner groups that meet at St. Andrew’s regularly? People gathering for the arts, fitness, social activities, children’s programming and peer to peer support.
We also have many other community groups that use our space on an as-need basis. They sing, they dance, they cook, they discuss, and they invite, enjoy, and encourage fellowship and action.
The way the psalms present it, praising God is about the whole of creation – paying attention to the diversity of life and expression, and ourselves within it. Make a joyful noise ALL the earth (Psalm 100). During any given week we can have 1000 people (or more) pass through our doors. All are members of God’s community, and together strengthen and enrich our community.
Together, we ARE praise.
| Saint Andrew's Supports Social Justice: Interfaith Harmony Week | |
Interfaith Harmony Halifax (IHH) was established in 2013 in response to the 2010 United Nations initiative World Interfaith Harmony Week. IHH replaced The Halifax Interfaith Council, which held an event to celebrate World Religion Day each year, with this week-long initiative.
IHH seeks to foster interfaith awareness, understanding, appreciation, respect, diversity, inclusion and peace. To help facilitate this, IHH creates events with both theistic and non-theistic groups within the Halifax Regional Municipality. These events are open to the public, and allow participants to engage with the various groups in an atmosphere of openness, creativity and learning. The events occur the first week of February each year.
For information on events happening during Interfaith Harmony Week (February 1-7), click here.

| Next GLEE Club Gathering - February 8 | |
Did you know? The Saint Andrew’s GLEE Club (Generations Sharing Lived Experiences and Education) was created in response to a specific need within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Many of our 2SLGBTQIA+ friends no longer have contact with their families and may lack elders or chosen kin from whom to learn everyday life skills and wisdom. The GLEE Club was formed to offer a safe, sober, and welcoming space where people can come together to support one another.
Early on this journey, we discovered something powerful – no matter your age, background, or life experience, everyone has knowledge, skills, and friendship to share. GLEE is a place where everyone can learn and everyone has something valuable to offer, often in ways they may not even realize. Everyone is truly welcome!
Our next GLEE Club meeting will be held in the St. Andrew’s Sanctuary on Sunday, February 8, immediately following the worship service. Lunch will be provided. You are invited (but not required) to bring an item that is meaningful to you and share its story with the group.
Participation is always optional. You are encouraged to take part at whatever level feels most comfortable and safe for you.
We look forward to gathering, learning, and growing together.
| Toward Becoming a Green Church | |
On Monday, February 16, Linda Scherzinger will be a guest speaker at the monthly UCW meeting. Linda’s topic is: Towards Becoming a Green Church – Saint Andrew’s United Church: Background, Updates, and Next Steps.
Linda will be joined by others with knowledge and information to support our work in thinking about our impact on the environment, and how we, as a church can reduce this impact.
This meeting is open to members of Saint Andrew’s, St. Matthew’s, and Fort Massey.
Refreshments will be served following the presentation.
Please join us in the Mary Holmes Room at 2:00pm for this time of learning and fellowship.

| On The Stage at Saint Andrew's | | The Stage at Saint Andrew's is creating community for musicians, and bringing the community to them as well. We’re not trying to take over the local neighbourhood music venues; they are already doing fabulous things. We want to join them! We’re small but meaningful. We’re small but magical. | | |
