Beacon’s Families Moving Forward Program has officially transitioned to His House
Foundation-Abundance. It’s a good time to look back on St. David’s 30+ years of
transforming our class room spaces into bedrooms for families in transition looking for
permanent housing. You provided meals and clean up, played with the guest children
and were a listening ear for the parents in their search for a safe and stable life. It was
a great way to live out our deepest faith values by opening our doors to families in need.
From Beacon: “We express our deepest gratitude to the many individuals and
congregations who supported and made FMF possible over the years. Looking back on
our collaborative time hosting families, we celebrate the many success stories and
moments of impact that we experienced together…. As this important shelter program
transitions to His House Foundation-Abundance, we thank everyone who joined us in
this hard work to help shelter families without a home. The work continues, and together
we’ll continue to show up and ensure that all people have a home”.
This last week, several St. David’s volunteers bagged up the linens, towels, pillows,
drying racks, and other supplies not needed at our church, and delivered them to Reach
and Restore in Hopkins. They will now be distributed to families who are starting anew,
as they transition out of homelessness or treatment programs. Our good work continues
to improve other’s lives and Reach and Restore is very grateful for the donations!!!
Now Mes Amis French School, housed in our building, will have a large closet ready for
their storage needs. It’s a win win!!!!
