Fr. Jonathan Galles+ called as Rector

First Sunday anticipated to be September 17

Following the unanimous recommendation of the Search Committee, the Vestry has called Father Jonathan W. Galles+ to serve as the 5th Rector of the Church of the Resurrection.

He is currently the Rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in The Dalles, Oregon and previously the Assistant Priest at St. Bride's Anglican Church in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. He and his wife Jessica, and 6-yr old daughter Leona will relocate to the Blue Springs area in September. Fr. Jonathan's first Sunday is anticipated to be September 17.

We will communicate more information about Father Galles in the weeks ahead.

LunchBunch dines with the Bishop

Breadsticks for all

The Resurrection LunchBunch enjoyed a great lunch at the Olive Garden in Blue Springs on Thursday, July 20, with Bishop Diane Jardine Bruce.

In addition to all-you-can salad and breadsticks, the group shared fun stories and good fellowship.

Thanks Bishop Diane for sharing the day with us!

The next LunchBunch gathering will be in September. Watch for the date and place to be announced.

Construction Update and More

Big changes on the horizon

Construction on the addition to the Narthex and modifications to the lower east entrance to make it handicap accessible continue slowly. Our contractor has been hampered with worker shortages and weather delays from heat and rain. Soon the wall that overlooks the addition area will be removed, so please be aware of your surroundings. We may have to temporarily relocate the entrance to the Nave to the side door by the columbarium.

After the construction of the addition to the Narthex is complete and the stairs relocated, the first floor will undergo a remodel which will include new floor covering, bathroom renovations and a new communication center featuring electronic media.

Also on the horizon, is the removal of the two dead ash trees on the church grounds. The Vestry has approved removing the trees and bids have been received.

Finally, if you haven't heard, the Vestry voted to replace the kneelers at the altar rail with new, padded cushions. The new cushions are being manufactured by Waggoners, Inc. in Hutchinson, Kansas and should be delivered in late August or early September.
