2024 Pledge Reminder for Automated Givers
With a new pledge year upon us, now is a good time to check up on your automated payments. If you increased your pledge for 2024, please be sure to increase your automated payments as well so that you will stay on track. If you make your payments via ACH withdrawal through the church, those updates have been made. If you have set up automated payments in REALM and you did not put in an end date, you will need to update those payments for any pledge increases, or add a new pledge if your previous pledge payments have expired. This would also apply to any automated payments you have set up through your bank. Please reach out to Shea Brendalen at sbrendalen@stdavidsparish.org if you have any questions. Thank you for your faithful giving.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner
February 13 @ 6:00 pm
The Cornerstone Endowment Committee of St. David’s invites everyone to a pancake dinner on Shrove Tuesday, February 13 at 6:00 pm. Food will be available until 7:00 pm. Please join us as we celebrate the evening before Lent begins! A goodwill offering is requested.
Fun Trivia:
- The idea of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday is over 1,000 years old. It was a way of using up rich foods before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday.
- Before baking soda was invented cooks often used fresh snow as an ingredient as it helped the pancakes turn out light and fluffy.

Helping our Neighbors Exiting Encampment
St. David’s Justice Collaborative is partnering with Beacon Interfaith Housing to provide needed items for our Native neighbors exiting homelessness. Beacon's newest supportive housing called Bimosedaa in Downtown Minneapolis has opened. These 48 housing units were built in response to a previous encampment of mostly Native neighbors.
Encampments are one expression of a deeper trend of housing insecurity and homelessness.
We will collect the following new personal care items and other needed supplies to help our neighbors settle into their safe and stable housing:
Bath and hand towels, wash cloths, bath mats, toiletries of shampoo and conditioner, menstrual care products, body wash, tooth brushes, floss and deodorant.
Also needed are twin extra long sheets and comforters, kitchen items (1 pot, plates and cups, silverware, utensils, can opener)
The Justice Collaborative will be coordinating collecting the items here at St. David’s and then delivering them to New Branches in Minneapolis who will distribute them to the families. Bring your items to church and place in the laundry baskets in the entry starting this Sunday. We will collect items until February 18. If you have any questions please contact Huldah Niles huldah.violin@gmail.com.

Many thanks for responding to the recent request for warm hats, mittens and scarves as the severe cold descended upon us. Your wonderful response is already being appreciated by area youth, helping them keep warm. Thank you again for sharing all sizes of new and gently used mittens, hats, and scarves.
The majority of donated items go to schools and social service agencies, who distribute them to children and young people in need. A metro school that has been a Hats & Mittens recipient wrote: "We are deeply grateful for your generous gifts. The majority of our scholars come from households living below or near the poverty level and frequently struggle to provide the warm outwear harsh Minnesota winters demand."
We will continue to collect hats, mittens, and scarves for about one more month. Just drop off any items you would like to donate in the Hats & Mittens boxes, located at the two south entrances.
If you would prefer to make a donation to help Hats & Mittens purchase items at wholesale prices, online contributions can be made at www.hatsandmittens.org/donate.
Thank you for caring!
