Church this Sunday

One 9:30 service of Baptism and Holy Eucharist

When the Feast of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Without warning there was a sound like a strong wind, gale force—no one could tell where it came from. It filled the whole building. Then, like a wildfire, the Holy Spirit spread through their ranks, and they started speaking in a number of different languages as the Spirit prompted them. Acts 2:1-4, translation from The Message

This Sunday, May 28, the Day of Pentecost, we'll celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. Join us at worship at 9:30 (one service only), wearing colors of the flame: red, orange yellow!

We're also looking for readers that morning to read the Pentecost story (Acts 2:1-4) in different languages. We'll have translations available that morning, or feel free to bring your own translation. For more information, contact Office Administrator Anna Brock at office@stdavidsparish.org.

There will be no children's time or Godly Play this Sunday.

We will continue to Facebook Livestream the Sunday 9:30 service and upload to YouTube to accommodate those who choose to stay home.

10:45-11:30 Community Forum - Walking the Neighborhood

The members of the Faithful Initiative Guiding Team are inviting you to get out into the neighborhoods!  The purpose of this outing is to notice – notice signs of hope, signs of need, signs of God's presence and call.  You can join up in several ways:  A Group outing is set for this coming Sunday, May 28.    It will take the place of the Adult Forum  but, no worries, coffee-to-go will be provided.  If this Sunday doesn't work for you,  you can simply grab a friend and walk through any area you define as “neighborhood”.  If walking is not your jam, consider driving or maybe setting up a lawn chair to watch the neighborhood move by you.  We have created an online folder to collect photos, comments and reflections.  Check out what others have been seeing and send your own submissions at https://tinyurl.com/44f594z6.

Sunday, June 4

Celebrating Graduations

We celebrated high school graduates on Youth Sunday, and now we want to honor and celebrate other graduates! Are you or someone you love graduating from college or a graduate program? Please let us know who our graduates are by emailing Katherine at klewis@stdavidsparish.org. We hope these graduates will be able to be with us in worship at 9:30 on June 4, but even if they are not able, we'll offer our prayers and recognition.

The Justice Collaborative has applied on behalf of St. David's Episcopal Church to participate in the 2023 Pride March. Children and Youth Ministry - EYMF

Ecumenical Youth Ministry Fellowship or EYMF

A new collaborative group formed this school year with the youth leaders and youth groups from Excelsior United Methodist, St. David's Episcopal, Trinity Episcopal, and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. This group is focusing on ecumenical connections and learning about different expressions of being the church in the world while celebrating all we have in common. We are working together toward a common purpose and call and having a lot of fun!

Highlights of our Ecumenical Youth Gatherings

Many Hands Many Meals Packathon – In November, we got together for the first time over pizza and games, and packed meals together.

Youth Group Planning Night – We went to Trinity Episcopal for Wednesday Youth Group in March for tacos, worship, songs, small groups and planning the upcoming baking and music event.

Youth Group Baking & Music Night – We went to Mount Calvary for Wednesday Youth Group in April and had pizza as a group, then broke off into baking groups in the kitchen and music groups for practicing.

Smokes & Sweets – About 130 people from our 4 churches came together at Mount Calvary on a Saturday evening in April for a wonderful ecumenical celebration over dinner, dessert baked by the youth, and music.

The Prom – 38 of us from our 4 churches went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre in May to enjoy dinner together and watch their production of The Prom.

EYMF Going Forward

We are planning to get the group together over the summer, and we look forward to many more ecumenical youth gatherings to come – including our new annual Smokes and Sweets event! Stay tuned for more information on EYMF!

To add someone to the prayers, please contact the office: office@stdavidsparish.org

We will include all individuals in the prayers list for four consecutive weeks, and then they will be removed from the list. If the prayer need is ongoing, please reach out and we will keep their names on the list. If anyone's prayer need is shorter than four weeks, please also note that. This way we will keep all prayer lists updated and recent.
