Tree Blessing and
Giving Campaign Kick Off
This Sunday, October 8
Worship at 8 and 9:30
At the end of the 9:30 service, we'll process out to the west lawn where 3 trees have been newly planted to kick off our Annual Giving Campaign, "Rooted in Abundance". We'll welcome the trees, bless them, and place mulch on their roots. Then we'll gather in the undercroft for coffee and snacks and a forum on Children and Youth and Camping, ministries that we support with our annual budget and giving.

Halloween Gift Bags for Avenues for Youth
6:30pm in the St. David’s Undercroft
Avenues for Youth is an organization that provides aid to Minnesota youth that find themselves unhoused. Avenues programs not only provide safe shelter and housing options for youth, but holistic supports to meet a youth's mental, physical, and life-long goals. Their programs support youth in Minnesota who are 16-24 years old, and their children, who are experiencing homelessness. On Halloween, like all holidays, Avenues for Youth tries to make their shelters fun and festive. We can help by assembling 100 special goody bags filled with an assortment of candy alongside a note card for a young person that includes a life affirming message. So don your Halloween costume, bring a bag of Halloween candy, and help us spread some joy. Dinner will be provided beforehand from 5:30-6:30pm.
Some deadlines approaching:
TOMORROW! October 6th: Registration due for DYE (Diocesan Youth Event for Grades 9-12 at St. Paul’s in Duluth, from October 20-22)
October 20th: Submit interest for ‘These are our Bodies’ course.

ECMN - West and Central Metro Mission Area Gathering
Tuesday, October 10, 6pm | Zoom
All Episcopalians living and worshipping in the west and central metro mission areas are invited and encouraged to attend your fall mission area gathering! Twice-annual mission area gatherings offer us the opportunity to meet our fellow Episcopalians living in our area of the diocese. Mission area gatherings strengthen our familial ties and offer us the opportunity to celebrate the diverse church ecology we are blessed with here in Minnesota. Fall mission area gatherings focus on reviewing the diocesan budget that will be voted on at diocesan Convention. If you'd like to be a part of how we, as a community, faithfully discern the best way to steward the resources God has given us, this is your opportunity to see the budget, ask questions, and offer feedback. Clergy and lay delegates are particularly invited and encouraged to attend.
One west metro council member will also be elected at this Mission Area Gathering. Council acts as the governing board of convention throughout the year, providing oversight for the organization, assisting in the development and approval of the financial statement of mission and helping to set and align the vision for ECMN. Apply to become a Council candidate here.

Thanksgiving Hospitality Helpers Needed!
This year we have the honor of hosting the annual Interfaith Thanksgiving service, to be held the evening of Sunday, November 19th. Katherine is working with the collaborating congregation's senior clergy to plan the service: Pastor David Landt from the Mills Church, Rabbi David Locketz from Bet Shalom Congregation, and Rev. Zoe Kuester from Spirit of Peace Community.
We need your help! Our specific needs:
--providing a light supper for the joint choirs before they rehearse
--providing refreshments after the service, including setting up, serving and cleaning
--one person (or a team of 2) to oversee the evening's hospitality
The schedule that evening:
5:30-choirs gather for a light meal
6:00-choir rehearsal
7:00-service, followed by a reception
Please email office@stdavidsparish.org to volunteer.
Thank you!

Safety Update
What wonderful engagement and super questions/comments/suggestions were posed this past Sunday at the Safety Forum. Both Cathy and I have taken them all to heart and are updating that manual yet again. Remember we said it is not a static document, but one very alive and ever changing! Thanks to all for attending this important forum.
Allison Ferro found a wonderful, free opportunity to get some CPR training right nearby. Minnetonka Fire Department hosts monthly drop-in hands-only CPR classes on the first Tuesday of every month. Stop in any time from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. to learn this lifesaving skill under the direction of a Minnetonka Firefighter.
