Because Lutherans get the job done: no matter the height! The Property stewards were basically just showing off this week with their near aerial skills. From the loan of the Habitat lift to prep paint at the Day School, to 40 foot (plus!) gutter clean out, to soaring sanctuary light adjustments, to barely accessible fire safety tests, this group knows no fear. Additional appreciation to all our water warriors over the weekend! We are better together.

Emanuel's is now "Sharing the Good News" from the pen of the Mission Interpreter. Wait … what is a Mission Interpreter and how did Emanuel's get one?
A Mission Interpreter is a volunteer from the congregation who tells the story of how our offerings and gifts are transformed into effective ministries. They remind us of how we make a difference in Christ’s mission and the work of the church, and they thank our people for their faithful giving. We are excited that an Emanuel's member is bringing their training, expertise, and enthusiasm to tell the stories of God's work in the world.
Mission Interpretation helps us understand our identity as partners in the wider church and increases our understanding of the work we do together beyond the congregation. We are a church that believes God is calling us into the world … together. We don’t have to do it alone, and we don’t have to do everything.
Each week Emanuel’s Mission Interpreter, who prefers to remain anonymous, will share the good news in our Weekly E-Newsletter. Print copies will also be available in the narthex.

CROSS TRAILS DAY CAMP is for students who have completed Kinder through 5th grade. Cross Trails Ministry will be sending their staff to us for the week. Day Camp will run from 1 pm - 6 pm each day, including a snack and dinner for the family. This year's theme is "From the Ground Up!", so come and grow your faith with us! Space is limited to forty students. You can register below.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is for children three years old to those who have not started kindergarten. VBS will run from 8:30am - Noon with a snack and lunch provided. Registration forms will be available soon on the church website. Turn forms into Pastor Kelsie. Our enrolled Emanuel's Day School students will return to their regular school day after lunch.

We are headed to Stumpy’s Hatchet House, 758 Isom Road, San Antonio, Texas 78216. If you would like to carpool, a group will be leaving from the Mountain Street parking lot at 5:30pm. Food options are pretty limited, and you are allowed to bring your own drinks (but NOT your own hatchet!), so we will plan on grabbing a bite afterwards for anyone who wishes to join us. That location will be decided at Stumpy’s.

HEALING THROUGH CONVERSATION

Healing Through Conversation is a support group for those who have lost a loved on to death. The monthly group, facilitated by Emanuel's Director of Congregational Care Donna Simmons, will meet on Thursday, May 20 at 11 a.m. on the third floor in the Family Life Center.

DEVELOPING THE PRACTICE OF GRATITUDE

Over the years the parable of the healing of the 10 lepers has intrigued me. We know the story well; 10 lepers were healed and only one returned to say thanks. At first glance a powerful takeaway is the idea that humans struggle mightily with gratitude.
Luke does not tell us how the Samaritan replies. But Jesus tells him something before sending the man on his way. “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” The idea that gratitude is part of being “well” is certainly evident.

MUSIC MINISTRY included the Jubilation Singers Choir and Heavenly Ringers Handbell Choir. They are currently meeting on Wednesday mornings to rehearse and record our online service, as well as Sunday mornings. Contact Thomas Engler, Emanuel's Director of Music.

LWR QUICK QUILTERS gathers in their first floor sewing suite on Monday mornings to assemble quilts that are distributed globally to those in need. If you are interested in this productive group call or text Jeanne P. at (830) 624-6478.

Emanuel's Office Staff is working both at the office and at home. Our schedules are staggered so that someone is in the office Mondays through Thursdays from 8-5. It is best to make an appointment or call before coming in. Everyone is still accessible via email and phone.
