Because Lutherans share their gifts. The Flower Ladies say, “Thank you!’ To Charles and Beverly J. for installing new shelving to store vases in the sacristy. This talented duo is always happy to lend a hand! Emanuel's Flower Ministry designs multiple floral arrangements each week for Sunday worship. Altar, pulpit, lectern, and chapel flowers are created to glorify God and often commemorate events and people in the life of the church. Emanuel's members sponsor and fund this ministry. If you would like to remember or honor a loved one in this way, please call the church office or sign up on the calendar on the Level 2 hallway. We are better together.

WORSHIP AT EMANUEL'S

Sunday Worship at 10:30am is in the sanctuary, online on YouTube, and on radio KWED AM 1580.

7th Sunday after Pentecost, Year C

Persistence in prayer is encouraged by Jesus and wins the attention of God when Abraham intercedes for Sodom. The life of the baptized—to be rooted and built up in Christ Jesus—is to be nurtured with prayer. God hears and answers prayer and so strengthens God’s own. “When I called, you answered me; you increased my strength within me.”

MISSION TEAM MESSAGE

During worship on Sunday morning Emanuel's participants in the 2025 Puerto Rico Mission Trip will share reflections from their recent experience. In association with Cross Trails Ministry the group rebuilt a pavillion damaged after Hurricane Maria at Dr. Eduardo Riog Lutheran Camp in Puerto Rico. The space is a hub for camp life and the extended community. This opportunity to work with and for our friends in Christ is a story of persistence, resilience, and revelation. Through your prayers, encouragement, and generous financial contributions it is your story, too! Welcome back Mission Team!

BEING THE CHURCH

Schoolyard Social on Tuesday, August 5 is the Gather & Grow Ministry Team’s inaugural Congregational Care event. The Gather & Grow Team invites you, family, friends, and neighbors for a relaxed evening at the Seguin Schoolyard. Food trucks are open, the playground is ready, tables will be set and the pickleball court calling our name. Visit with us, eat with us, socialize with us, and maybe play pickleball (even if it’s your first time!) with us. We’ll gather around 6pm and stay until about 8pm or whenever the group is ready to head home. Stay the whole time, pop in and out, or drive by and honk! See you at the Schoolyard, 225 N Saunders Street, Seguin, 78155.

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

& VOCATION SUNDAY

August 10 during worship

Begin the school year with a blessing! You've packed the notebooks and pencils, but what about prayers of love and peace? Let us help! Everyone is invited to bring their backpack, their work bags, their tools of the trade, whatever represents your vocation, for a special Sunday blessing on August 10. We will take a moment to pray for our students, teachers, and school staff, as well as lifting up prayers for all the vocations to which God calls us.

It is that time of the year for items to be collected for Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits for world wide distribution where needed most. Emanuel's will assemble School Kits and Personal Care Kits on "God's work. Our hands." Sunday, September 7, 2025.

We have plenty of school supplies but still need:

  • Bath-size towels that are light-weight and dark color (between 20" x 40" and 52" x 27")
  • Single adult-size toothbrushes in original packaging
  • Metal nail clippers
  • Sturdy broad-tooth combs

LWR donation boxes are located in the Narthex and at the Mountain St. entrance.

The Quick Quilters share that the kits and quilts they are currently working on will be shipped in the fall to LWR warehouses and kept until emergencies arise. Thankfully, LWR quilts and kits were already prepositioned in Texas. Within 12 hours of the flash flooding in the Hill Country, they were in the hands of those that needed them most. Thank you for supporting Lutheran World Relief, in its 80th year of faithful service to neighbors around the world.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

CHILDREN & YOUTH EDUCATION

Children's Church is a weekly time for our younger learners to join in Bible study, crafts, and activities. During worship Children’s Ministry Assistant Charis leads our PK to 5th graders to the Children’s Church room, just down the hall from the sanctuary, and returns as we share the peace.

The Compass Cooperative 6th – 12th graders celebrate summertime with our four church partners- Emanuel’s, St. Andrew’s, Spirit of Joy, and Friedens Church. Check out the schedule below for a host of projects and opportunities for youth to get to know each other, our community, and Jesus! Contact the Compass Cooperative Director Hannah Hanson if you have any questions about this dynamic program.
