Because Lutherans are honored to serve. On Saturday our voting members, Karen, Sarah, and Paul, plus Vicar Rudy and Pastor Marcus, were deep in the yearly work of the Synod Assembly.We are blessed to have additional church members, Deanna and Jonathan, work all the behind the screens and scenes to make the massive event happen. We are better together. .

Fourth Sunday of Easter, Year C

The gift of new life, of eternal life, is the gift of the risen Christ. It is the promise of Jesus. It was true for Dorcas in Joppa. It was true for those “who have come out of the great ordeal” in the Revelation vision. It is true for us and for all the baptized: Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

On Mother's Day, we give thanks for mothers and those who serve mothering roles in our lives. We remember those for whom this day is difficult, and pray that we all might experience God's nurturing and unconditional love.

SUNDAY AT EMANUEL'S

College Graduation Sunday and Bluegrass Sunday blended together perfectly! It was an honor to recognize our graduates and wish them well on their journeys. The Hot Pickin 57s had us tapping our toes while also filling our hearts with hymns we love. The day included new cute faces helping usher and a delicious meal after service with the Lutheran Lunch Bunch.

Emanuel’s … let us pray. Sweet Hour of Prayer is sponsoring a “Summer of Prayer” series lifting in prayer following events and their participants: Emanuel’s annual beach trip; Camp Chrysalis and Ebert Ranch Camp youth; God’s Explorers youth and chaperones; Vacation Bible School at Friedens Church kids and volunteers; and the Puerto Rico mission trip participants. Our team has prepared colored sheets of paper with sample prayers for each group’s trip, as well as a calendar to sign-up if you would rather pray on a specific day for a specific trip. Stop by and visit with one of our prayer team members in the Narthex throughout May to get connected.

Pictured above is our Ignite! Youth and Family crew enjoying a gorgeous, rain-free Friday night in San Antonio at the Mission Baseball Stadium. The Corpus Christi Hooks took the game, but we all left with hockey jerseys (?!) and big smiles.

Below is The Senior Social Club on their epic bus journey to Cedar Park and steam train trip to Burnet on Saturday. Donna Simmons shares, "We made it home safe, sound, and tired, but is was a great day. Everyone had a good time. Another successful trip!!!"

GOD'S EXPLORERS: FAITH & SCIENCE COME ALIVE is now forming a waitlist for all interested 3rd to 8th grade youth. Hosted June 30 to July 3, from 8am to 5pm, this incredible group of youth, chaperones, and pastors will traverse central Texas visiting the USS Lexington, the Alamo & Tower of the Americas, the Dinosaur Park, and the Safari at Natural Bridge Caverns. We will eat together, have Bible studies, and explore each of these fascinating locations. All participants must have turned in their registration form in order to participate. The only costs incurred by each youth will be any souvenirs they wish to purchase.

CHILDREN & YOUTH EDUCATION

CHILDREN’S CHURCH for our PreK to 5th grade learners has had an incredible level of participation this year and we are so grateful to every family, friend, and neighbor who made sure their children could participate. 

• No Children's Church May 11.
• Last Children's Church of the season is on May 18.
• Children's Church will resume on August 24.

During the summer break, members of our children's ministry team will be in the Prayground area each Sunday starting at 9:15am to interact and engage with our children through the education and worship hours. 

The Compass Cooperative gathers on Sundays with our four church partners - Emanuel's, St. Andrew's, Spirit of Joy, and Friedens Church- at the Spirit of Joy's campus. Contact: Compass Program Director Hannah Hansen.

Confirmation Classes for our 6th to 8th graders meet on the 4th Sunday of every month after worship in the Women’s Ministry Room on Level 1. Pastor Marcus is available to answer any questions about our new schedule and curriculum focus. 

SUNDAY ADULT CLASSES

THE HERITAGE CLASS meets at 9:15 am Sunday mornings on Level 3 in room 307. Participants explore the deeper meaning found in the Bible and seek to unlock its wisdom through fellowship and robust group discussion, making the Bible relevant and applicable to daily life.

This spring, our Bible lessons follow the theme “Exclusion and Embrace,” a series in two units during Lent and the weeks following that encourage us to consider what we need to let go of and what we need to take on as followers of Jesus. 

“WE HAVE SEEN THE LORD” Devotions for the Easter Season (Family Life Center): April 27 – June 1 at 9am. After Easter, the risen Lord appeared 12 times to his followers. We will follow these experiences of those who were the chosen witnesses, believers who were then sent out – as we are sent – to testify to good news that is absolute fact: Christ is risen! He is Risen indeed! Alleluia! 

THE JOY CLASS: Bible stories and songs for adults with intellectual disabilities at 9am one Sunday a month in the Women's Ministry Room.
