Because Lutherans learn from each other. Pictured here is Vicar Rudy praying with Emanuel's Ladies Aid during his first official week at Emanuel's following his installation as a seminary intern on Sunday. You would be hard pressed to find a more experienced group to welcome someone new to ministry. Ladies Aid celebrates their 125th year of service to the church in 2024! We will be celebrating together soon on Homecoming Sunday, October 27th, so save the date. We are better together.

BEING THE CHURCH

“God’s Work. Our Hands.”

Lutheran Day of Service

"God's work. Our hands." Sunday is an annual day of service for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) that takes place on September 8, 2024. It's a day to celebrate the ELCA's identity as a church that serves and loves its neighbors through Christ. It's also a chance to renew commitments to love and serve communities, and to make God's love real by calling for justice.

Our Emanuel's projects will take place on campus and in the community, some in partnership with Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church. There are projects for people of all ages and abilities. Fliers with the following information are available in the narthex.

Sunday, September 29 at 9:00 am

in the Sanctuary front pews

Whether you are interested in ushering or greeting, or have ushered and greeted your entire life, please join Pastor Marcus in this Sanctuary for this quick refresher training and updates. We will gather for an hour to go over new requests of this vital ministry, define roles and responsibilities of our numerous teams at work on Sundays, and answer any questions about before, during, and after worship responsibilities. A new usher and greeter checklist will provide the outline for our brief and focused conversation.

EMANUEL'S LUTHERAN DAY SCHOOL

Thursday, September 26 at 9:15am

Women's Ministry Room

We welcome Michelle Martin and Tori Ferson with Emanuel's Lutheran Day School at 9:15am in the Women’s Ministry Room for coffee and conversation. Our Day School celebrates its 75th anniversary this year! Please make time to meet the ELDS leadership team and learn more about the ever developing ways of educating and loving young children in our area, how you can be involved in their lives, and ways Emanuel’s can be a welcoming presence in our community.

Greetings from the “Crazy Flower Ladies”!

First off, we are excited to see so many people sponsoring the flower arrangements to make our worship space even more beautiful and inviting. Whether you are commemorating or celebrating a special occasion or just because, we try to keep in mind any special requests.

With that in mind, it is helpful if you communicate that with us. Whether it is a special color you either love or hate (some people despise red roses) or a special kind of flower you want us to look for, please let us know. I usually shop for the flowers on Wednesday, and we meet Thursday morning to do the arrangements.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you sponsor the flowers they are YOURS. Please feel free to take them with you after the service on Sunday. For flowers that are left, I try to offer them to random people as a day-brightener. Flowers that are left are put back in the cooler and we try to recycle and reuse for the next week if appropriate. The flowers on the lectern and pulpit are generally not sponsored – so if you know of someone you want to take or send flowers to, please let us know. We do ask that the vases be returned; if you prefer, we have some coke bottles that have been cut down to use as temporary vases.

If you have any questions, you can contact Elizabeth Jandt, Nancy Meier or me. You can reach me by text or phone at (830) 401-1529, or email mnschroeder@gmail.com

Again, thank you for participating in this ministry. If you are interested in joining us, please let us know!
