Our hearts break anew with each update about the catastrophic flash floods in the Texas Hill Country. We join Bishop Sue Briner’s call to “pray, pray, pray for those who are still lost as well as the families of those who are lost, who have died, or who have experienced loss of home or property.” As the days draw on we include first responders, support services, and community members bearing great loads. Merciful God, hear our prayer.

Cross Trails Ministry reports minimal damage at Camp Chrysalis and Ebert Ranch Camp. "We are overwhelmingly grateful for our summer staff and leadership who handled an unusual situation extremely well. Please continue to pray for our camp friends in the area."

As ever and with your support, our church stands ready to walk with our neighbors as the floodwaters recede and rebuilding begins. Lutheran Disaster Response is coordinating with the Southwestern Texas Synod and will work with them and other partners to respond to urgent needs, provide emotional and spiritual care, and support cleanup and long-term recovery. Give financially to our Synod Disaster Fund (which is used for immediate relief) or nationally to Lutheran Disaster Response (for long term response). Your gifts ensure that our neighbors are not alone on the long road to recovery.

WORSHIP AT EMANUEL'S

Sunday Worship at 10:30am is in the sanctuary, online on YouTube, and on radio KWED AM 1580.

5th Sunday after Pentecost, Year C

To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind is to reflect God’s mercy in responding to one’s neighbor. That mercy found its most profound expression in the “gospel that has come to you”—namely the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That gospel mercy comes to us again today: at the font, at the table, and from the pulpit. It is very near to you.

BEING THE CHURCH

Huge thanks to everyone who came out for the first-class with Handsome Rob. Looking forward to cutting a rug every Monday at 2pm. Don't forget to bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and be ready to boogie!

Line dancing is a fun, healthy, and rewarding activity. Our enthusiastic instructor is Rob Kennedy. He is experienced at teaching line dancing to all ages and differing levels of mobility. No previous dance experience is needed, just the desire to join us for some great exercise with a fun group of people.

PUERTO RICO MISSION TRIP 2025

We leave Saturday! Thank you for walking with us all. Your support helped prepare us to go. We will keep you updated from the field. Please keep everyone in your prayers for safety, energy, and joy as we serve.

WE SEE YOU!

Congrats to our festive, patriotic, and entrepreneurial Scouts! Emanuel's friends in Pack 107 and Troop 12 were honored at "The Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas" with the most unique float award. Gotta love Scout popcorn! Way to go scouts and parents!

Because Lutherans share their talents. Special visitors are popping in all summer long to see what is going on at the corner of Mountain and Travis Streets. This week the Quick Quilters got to meet a couple of Jeanne P.'s grands and the kids got to see the amazing work produced in the sewing rooms. Linda S. also brought in her granddaughter to check out some items in the archives and take a peek at the garden. Keep 'em coming! Thanks for the photo, Judy. We are better together.

Because Lutherans celebrate with style. Pastor Marcus' birthday might be overshadowed by the holiday weekend but no one was going to let it go unnoticed at the Lutheran Lunch Bunch's first Sunday gathering at Los Cucos this weekend. "Happy Birthday, Pastor Marcus!!!" You can join the fun next month after worship on August 3. Great picture, Donna! We are better together.

COUNCIL NOTES

Summer living may be easy, but planning never stops! Emanuel's Ministry Teams gather next on Wednesday, August 6 at 5:30 in the Women's MInistry. After dinner we will roll up our sleeves and get to work on events and projects for the second half of the year. Come see what is going on and how you can help.

Please find the Congregation Council minutes from the July meeting below.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

CHILDREN & YOUTH EDUCATION

Children's Church is a weekly time for our younger learners to join in Bible study, crafts, and activities. During worship Children’s Ministry Assistant Charis leads our PK to 5th graders to the Children’s Church room, just down the hall from the sanctuary, and returns as we share the peace.

The Compass Cooperative 6th – 12th graders celebrate summertime with our four church partners- Emanuel’s, St. Andrew’s, Spirit of Joy, and Friedens Church. Check out the schedule below for a host of projects and opportunities for youth to get to know each other, our community, and Jesus! Contact the Compass Cooperative Director Hannah Hanson if you have any questions about this dynamic program.

SUNDAY ADULT CLASSES

THE HERITAGE CLASS meets at 9:15 am Sunday mornings on Level 3 in room 307.
