Because Lutherans care for all neighbors: our labors of love go far beyond our walls and even across many seas. Next Sunday, October 10, the Emanuel's Sanctuary will be draped with hundreds of quilts crafted by our Monday Morning Lutheran World Relief Quilters. Please join us for this special service as we bless quilts, school bags, and health kits for people across the globe who experience emergency situations. Read more here in a featured article by our Partner in Service, RSVP Director Barbara Weyland. We are better together.

COVID-19 EXPOSURE NOTICE
A member who worshipped with us on Sunday, September 26 tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, September 27. They were masked and maintained social distancing practices in the church building. A number of Emanuel's members have tested positive over the last year and the surge of the Delta variant of Covid-19 is still high. It is crucial that we do all that we can to remain healthy and safe.
As a large worshipping community that gathers, please keep in mind the best Covid-19 Safety Practices:
- Wear a mask at all times while in public buildings
- Get vaccinated
- Practice great hygiene
- Physically distance from those who do not live or travel with you
- Stay home if you have a fever or do not feel well
- Quarantine for 10 days if you test positive for Covid-19 and have no symptoms
- Inform the church if you were Covid-19 positive while in the building so that we can alert people you may have come into contact with
We are indeed better together and certainly want to remain together. It will take all of us, doing our small part, to make the greatest difference.

SANCTUARY PEW CUSHION SURVEY
The Emanuel's Congregation Council is exploring replacing the pew cushions in the Sanctuary. The old cushions were removed at the onset of the pandemic when cleaning surface areas was a vital concern. During that process it became evident that the cushions had deteriorated beyond reasonable use.
The Council wants to hear from you! Please share your thoughts about pew cushions and how we can pay for the project by completing the survey below. The survey will close on Monday, October 4, 2021.

GOD'S WORK. OUR HANDS.
Recap and THANK YOU!!!
|
|
GWOH Sunday on September 12, 2021 was an eventful day of service to the church, the community, and the world. Team leaders estimate more than 70 people - 140+ hands - participated in projects ranging from letter writing to quilt tying to highway clean up. Happy that friends from Spirit of Joy joined us!
Team leaders report the following;
- Thank you. Thank you. Thank you to all who wrote well over 100 letters on GWOH's Sunday. They have all been delivered and gratefully received by the smiling recipients. You do and did make a positive difference in someone's day!
- Eleven people gathered up debris and trash along Emanuel’s designated section of Highway 123. Together, we collected enough “stuff” to fill the back of an F-150!
- Forty quilts were tied. Two hundred School Kits were assembled. 104 Personal Care Kits were assembled. A lot of energy in the room … lots of "get-to-work" as well as a wonderfully pleasant opportunity to greet, meet, and chat with others working on a project. The eager participation on this God's Work Our Hands morning is so gratifying as we join together to do something that will enhance the lives of people whom we will never meet, but who will know that somewhere someone cares about them.
|
|
The work doesn't stop here, of course. God's work continues with our hands all year long. About 16 women work together at Emanuel's on Monday Mornings to gather and prepare and sew. Others participate throughout the year by donating items or funds to purchase items for these kits and quilt batting . . . and by donating fabrics for the quilts.
Stay tuned for additional Highway Clean Up dates. This sign should be up soon on our section of HYW 123, a two mile stretch south of Cordova Road. We have the vests and supplies. All we need is you!

Laundry of Love
Many of Emanuel’s members are involved in various social ministries which make a considerable difference to numbers of people both in our community and in other places. Before any group or individual begins, an assessment is made of what is needed most. A group of women (WELCA) in South Dakota were inspired to adopt a project through Church on the Street, an ELCA synodically authorized worshiping community for people without homes. They created “Laundry of Love” for homeless people to be able to wash their clothes. But, then, of course, there is more to it than that!
