Because Lutherans love blessing new ventures. Backpack and Vocation Sunday was a great reminder to all that as a new school year begins, "You Got This!" The phrase is printed on one side colorful backpack tags with "I am loved and prayed for by my church family" on the other. Thank you God for fresh starts, endless possibilities, and being with us through it all. We are better and "got this" together.

RALLY DAY DONATIONS NEEDED

Donations of the following items are welcome to make our morning successful!

20oz plastic bottles of soda, sports drinks, sparkling or regular water
- Loan of pop-up canopy tents to shade game areas. 10'x10' type.
- Adult and teen volunteers to run the booths! (You will have a blast.)
Please bring drink donations to the box located in the church office marked for Rally Day. If you have a pop up canopy that we may borrow for that day, please let Vicar Connor or Emily Prochnow know so that we can arrange to get it before set up time on August 28th.

Sunday, September 11th
We will be serving with Spirit of Joy and Greater Refuge congregations on a series of projects both inside and outside.
- Inside Projects: Gathering at 8:30 am in the 3rd Floor Family Life Center. LWR quilts, LWR school kits, LWR health kits, and thank you cards for service members and others in our community.
- Outside Projects: Gathering at 7:30 a.m. in Spirit of Joy parking lot. Installation of West End Community Gardens and trash pickup at the Park West creek.
No registration required for this event. Folks are invited to arrive wherever they wish to serve for the morning. Following each service project all participants are invited to worship with the congregation at their work site! Spirit of Joy and Emanuel’s services both begin at 10:30am.

70-80 page spiral notebooks, ball point pens, 16/24 count crayons, pink erasers, blunt children’s scissors, unsharpened pencils, pencil sharpeners, 12’ metric and US measurement rulers, bath size bars of soap in original wrapping, single adult size toothbrushes in original packaging, sturdy wide-toothed combs, metal nail clippers, new dark colored bath towels.

HEALING THROUGH CONVERSATION is a support group for those who have lost a loved one to death. The group will meet Thursday, September 1 at 11 a.m. in the Family Life Center. If you have questions please contact Donna Simmons at donna@elcseguin.org.

Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian non-profit that works in partnership with God’s people to build decent and affordable homes in Guadalupe County. We are excited to announce that we have started work on our next home located at, 503 E Pine St. Seguin, TX 78155.
Volunteers are always needed! Volunteers of all ages and experience are welcome. No experience is necessary! Emanuel’s hosts a community Support Group for Caregivers currently caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Dementia, and other aging issues. Meeting next August 20. THE HERITAGE CLASS: Augsburg Fortress Quarterly Adult Bible Study led by various class members meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in room 304. The summer study is Partners in a New Creation: Isaiah, John, Revelation.
THE JOY CLASS: Bible stories and songs for adults with intellectual disabilities. Gathers at 9:15 on the First Sunday of the month in the Women's Ministry Room.

CHILDREN & YOUTH EDUCATION
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL: We are happy to announce a new format for our beloved children's ministry. Beginning September 4th we will be meeting Sunday mornings at 9:15 and going over our favorite stories in new ways including Science, Cooking, Creative Drama and more! Come by Rally Day to learn more information!
CONFIRMATION CLASSES begin on Sunday, August 21 at 1pm in the Sanctuary at Spirit of Joy Lutheran, 416 Dolle Ave, Seguin, TX 78155. Instruction for the year will take place monthly at both Emanuel’s and Spirit of Joy with a fall retreat at Camp Chrysalis. Please contact Pastor Marcus if you have an entering 6th grader ready to begin this rewarding journey of faith and have not received our schedule.
SWTS MIDDLE SCHOOL GATHERING is set for November 11-13th at Lutheran Camp Chrysalis in Kerrville. This gathering is opened to all 6th to 8th graders and will be centered around the theme, "The Reformation Continues." If you have a youth interested in attending, please reach out to Vicar Connor or Pastor Marcus to get on the list. More information and details will be coming soon!
