Minister's Vacation

Rev. Susan Chisholm is on vacation until August 31. For urgent pastoral care matters, please call 902-422-3157. A minister is available - several ministers in fact - to respond with care and grace.

Saint Andrew's GLEE Club Launches in September

As an Affirming Church. Saint Andrew's wants to support members of the queer community who are isolated from their elders by providing a sober, well-lit, safe space where trans, queers, and allies from all walks of life can gather to share lived experiences. Nobody ever stops needing family.

Are you sick of scouring the internet for all the answers and want to talk things out with a real person? Are you a good listener? Do you want to talk to someone you can trust, who will listen without judgment, but can’t go to your family with your life questions?

Come to St. Andrew's GLEE - Generations sharing Lived Experiences and Education - Club! You'll meet people who would love to learn the life skills you have to share. You'll meet people who can teach you the skills you want to learn.

The first meeting is September 21. Contact the office for more information.

Spotlight on Saint Andrew’s Community

In this video of the Magi play, Ross and Alison are pulling the wagon, and singing with the chorus. Heather appears near the end as the angel who warns the Magi not to return to Herod.

When Rev. Heather Fraser and Ross Dickson were away from the choir in June, they took an opportunity to join with their daughter Alison and other friends who share their interest in the Middle Ages, and were players in the York Plays.

Held at Victoria University in Toronto on June 7, these fifty plays, dating from the 13th

century, were performed every year for nearly two hundred years on the religious

festival of Corpus Christi by the guilds of York, on rolling carts that went from station to station while the people watched.

This is the third time they have been performed at Victoria University, and in 2025, seventeen community groups came from all over North America, to perform on wagons custom built for the players, beginning with the Creation at 6 am, and ending with the Last Judgement at 12:30 am the next morning.

Seniors for Climate - Halifax is partnering with Kairos to hold Draw the Line!, the 2nd Climate Change Info Day, from 1pm to 5pm on September 19, hosted by Saint Andrew's. This event has a focus for seniors, but all welcome!

Seniors For Climate is joining Climate Action Network, 350.org and other organizations in global actions from September 19-21, 2025. This will be a worldwide mobilization and a global moment of reckoning.

The theme of the mobilization is: #DrawTheLine

Draw the line for people, peace and the planet.

Draw the line for power, democracy, and a livable future.

Draw the line against fossil fuel use and climate injustice, and build a democratic, world run by accessible, renewable energy.

Upper Hall Update

Refinishing of the floor in the upper hall has been completed and it looks amazing!

A huge thank you to Halifax Shuurenkan Kendo, who donated their time and materials to take a worn 70 year old floor and breath new life into it!

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the regular routines in the fresh new space.
