Spotlight on Saint Andrew’s Community: Robbie Shaw

Saint Andrew's Supports Social Justice

On The Stage: Upcoming Events

There's 'The Word' and 'the word'. The Word of scripture (this week from Proverbs), the word of prayer (with or without words), the word of Peace (passed and passed and passed), the word of welcome. This Sunday Susan will reflect on the broad-brush word religion. Ross Dickson will sing the impossibly beautiful words of Garnet Rogers. Just see how they apply to you ...

Also we'll be extending 'the right hand of fellowship' (traditional church words) to new members of our Saint Andrew's community. 23 people are transferring or joining membership at Saint Andrew's.

See you Sunday.

Saint Andrew's Glee Club

Launches Sept 21

Wonder what it was like to come of age as trans, queer, or an ally in the 1970s, 1990s, or 2010s? Ever wanted to ask someone about the gadget they’re wearing or a button on their bag, but were afraid of offending? Sick of hunting for answers big and small on Reddit and wishing you could just talk to someone in person? Don’t know how Reddit works at all? Separated from your family by geography or emotional distance and looking for support or insight from a Gen Zer or a Boomer? How do we form and keep close bonds as we move through every stage of life?

If any of that sounds like you, we warmly invite you to St. Andrew’s GLEE - Generations sharing Lived Experiences and Education - Club. As an Affirming Church, St. Andrew’s Halifax is committed to supporting queer and trans people who may feel cut off from younger or older generations. The GLEE Club provides a sober, well-lit, safe space where queer and trans people and allies can gather to share stories and experiences.

The first meeting is September 21 at noon.

Lunch will be provided.

He has given countless volunteer hours to the leadership and life of our community, and to the wider community. He brings a robust spirit to all he does, with a clear-eyed focus on the common good. Currently, Robbie serves on our Saint Andrew's Board of Trustees and Building Committee.
