and having been warned ...

they left by another way.

Matthew 1:12

This Sunday we have the familiar story of the three Magi, who after meeting the Christ child, heed the warning and choose another way. AN OTHER WAY.

Susan has been reflecting on an other way (I mean ... the warning signs ... right?!). Julia and Ibukun have been prepping a great piece of music that should come with a warning: you're going to love it!

It will be great to worship together. See you Sunday.

UPCOMING SERVICES you won't want to miss:

Jan. 25 A Praise Service, with the Mostly Righteous, followed by a potluck lunch

Feb. 1 Guest Preacher Rev. Canon Charles Bull

Every Wednesday 6:00 pm Our Contemplative Service

Potluck Lunch Following Worship

Let's share a meal, take time to chat, and give a special welcome to friends from Fort Massey. It's good to be in congregation together, especially when we take time to get to know one another.

We'll all bring food, but we use some in setting-up and cleaning-up. If you can help, please send us a note by clicking on this link:

Spotlight on Our Community: Amalgamation

With the new year upon us, we look toward the amalgamation of Fort Massey, Saint Matthew’s and Saint Andrew’s with great anticipation. There is a lot of work to be done, and it will be led by the new Amalgamation Committee along with various subcommittees and with lots of input from the three current congregations.

The committee members are Janet Hulford, Kathy Evans, Darrell Johnston, Tim Matthews, Sherrie Bushen, Angela Gillis, Ken Moors, Rowan White, and Patricia Murray, and they are requesting your input.

Dear friends,

As we continue our journey toward becoming one united congregation, we now have an exciting and meaningful step ahead of us: choosing a new name for our shared community.

We invite everyone - members, newcomers, children, longtime attendees, and friends - to offer ideas. Your suggestions can reflect our shared values, our history, our vision, our hopes for the future, or simply a name that feels right for who we are becoming together.

How to participate:

  • Write down your suggested name (or names).
  • Include your name, if you wish.
  • Add a brief note about why it resonates with you, if you wish.
  • Drop it into the Name Suggestion Box.

If you prefer, you can also submit your ideas by email to the Naming Committee.

amalgamation@saintandrewshfx.ca.

This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to help shape the identity of our new congregation. This step helps people feel the shift from “three churches merging” to “one church becoming". Thank you for bringing your creativity, your spirit, and your voice to this process.

With gratitude,

The Naming Committee

We offer a hybrid model, with some guests enjoying a sit-down supper and time with community, as well as offering takeaway meals for those who do not wish to come inside.

We give thanks for all the support given to Sunday Suppers.
