On The Stage: Upcoming Events

This is All Saints and All Souls Sunday, when we remember and give thanks for those we have loved and lost.  It is a special service – for many, a favourite of the year.

We give thee but thine own

What e’re the gift may be;

All that we have is thine alone,

A trust, O God, from thee.

Note:  Daylight Saving ends on Saturday night.

UPCOMING:

Every Wednesday 6:00 - 6:25 pm Contemplative Service

Potluck at St. Matthew's

Join us for a potluck supper at St. Matthew's on Wednesday, November 5 at 5:30pm.

The supper will take place in the sanctuary at St. Matthew's, and we ask that you bring a peanut-free dish (homemade or store-bought are both appreciated!) to share.

Drag Me to Church: Thank you!

Oh, what a night!

Drag Me to Church was a huge success, and night full of joy and love!

Thank you to everyone who participated! Our performers, market vendors, volunteers and staff all worked hard to make this a wonderful event.

And thank you to the 100+ people who supported the event by attending, supporting the market vendors, embracing the spirit of the night, and having an incredible time!

Spotlight on Saint Andrew’s Community: Sunday Suppers

The HungerCount 2025 report was released recently and includes some grim statistics, including:

  • Monthly visits to Canada’s food banks have doubled since 2019 – hitting close to 2.2 million visits in March 2025 alone.
  • Nearly 1 in 5 food bank clients (19.4%) are employed but still can’t make ends meet, compared to just over 1 in 10 (12.2%) in 2019.
  • One-third (33%) of food bank clients are children – representing nearly 712,000 monthly visits in 2025, up by over 300,000 monthly visits compared to 2019.
  • Nearly 1 in 4 households (23.1%) that rely on food banks are two-parent families, compared to 18.8% in 2019.
  • 8.3% of food bank clients in Canada are seniors – up from 6.8% in 2019.

Nova Scotia data shows a 10% increase in food bank visits in one year, which is reflected in the increased numbers we've been seeing at Sunday Suppers. Just this past weekend, the program fed 319 guests.

Sunday Suppers provides a hot meal and basic needs support every Sunday from 4-5:30pm for people of all ages who are experiencing food scarcity. All are welcome. We build community with marginalized folks in a way that communicates value, worth, and dignity.

CURRENT NEED:

  • Clean, used winter jackets in good condition (working zippers).
  • Water resistant winter gloves (especially XL men's).
  • Socks.

Saint Andrew's Supports Social Justice: Lunch and Learn

Topic: WILDFIRES AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Speaker: Alex Cadel

St. Matthew’s Hall

Sunday, November 2

12:00 p.m.

Light lunch included.

Alex Cadel works for the Province of Nova Scotia, supporting the delivery of climate

services in Nova Scotia in partnership with CLIMAtlantic. His work helps governments,

organizations, and individuals to understand and use climate change information to

make more informed decisions about how to respond and adapt.

This session will examine the role of climate change in wildfires in Nova Scotia. It will discuss local climate change trends and projections, the impacts of wildfires, how

wildfire risk is changing in the province, and resources to help individuals or

communities be better prepared.

Jubilee 2025

KAIROS Canada is leading the Jubilee 20025 campaign in collaboration with Citizens for Public Justice, Development and Peace – Caritas Canada, and the Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology and The Canadian Council of Churches. Together, they are mobilizing communities of faith and conscience.

Join voices with Indigenous peoples, global partners, organizations and movements around the world to Turn Debt into Hope. Together we can create a just world for all.

This Sunday, the Social Justice Committee will have a table in the back of the church with more information and petition to sign. The goal is for 100,000 signatures by the end of this year.

You can sign the petition here OR in person at the church on Sunday.
