Dear OLG Families,
We are well into the Advent season, yet so much else is also happening in our school. This advent we are sending out family prayers you can use at home that tie in with the Sunday liturgy and our school prayers. This morning we also offered a reconciliation opportunity to all 3rd through 8th grade students, and tomorrow we have
Feast of the Immaculate Conception at 9am.
Our special festivities continue next week with
Dec. 12th Feast of Our Lady
at 9am (led by Student Council), and our all-school sing-a-long on
Dec 13th
at 1:30. You're welcome to any and all of these events! I'll keep it short this week to leave room for all the notes below. Blessings to you this Advent Season.

Development & Marketing Our School
|
|
What does the Development office do, anyway?
|
“Development” is one of those amorphous words that can (and does) mean just about anything. Am I building things? Do I make copies of photographs? What do I DO with my time at work, anyway? Allow me to clarify a bit for you!
The primary role the Development office serves is fundraising. During the 20 hours a week that I work at OLG School, the main focus of my time is to grow our
School Fund Drive through donations. These gifts come largely from our school families, but we are supported well by parishioners, alumni, grandparents, extended family, corporate matching, friends, religious organizations and just about anyone else who believes in Catholic education. I also work on grant proposals to outside organizations. So far this year we have applied for two separate grants and hope to hear good news from them in early 2018.
Marketing is another major focus of my time and includes advertising, social media, enrollment and publicity. Marketing by word of mouth always has the strongest returns. If you have any great ideas and/or time to share, I’d love your support!
In addition to money-earning and marketing, I also work on major events for the school including Special Persons’ Day, our Open House, and others. This year I’m getting to work with the Auction team as well, and I love it! There is something so satisfying about watching a community work together to pull off such a large event, and I am enjoying getting to know people more closely through this involvement.
In general, I’m in the office Monday-Thursday 9:00-2:00. If you ever find yourself in the school during those times, come say hi to me! I would love to have the opportunity to work more closely with you and to get to know you on an individual basis. I can also be reached via
email if you have any questions about your
School Fund Drive pledge, marketing or anything else. If I don’t know the answer, I’ll do my best to find it for you.
I am blessed to be part of such a wonderful school community, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Director of Development and Marketing

Spanish with Senora Brodahl
|
Hello Parents from OLG,
It’s December - Feliz Navidad! It is always a pleasure to teach Spanish at OLG. I feel very blessed to be part of this community and I love teaching Spanish to your children. This month is such a beautiful month for OLG as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Students in Pre-K to Eighth grade will be learning how Mexico, Spain and Latin America celebrate Christmas with Las Posadas and other activities.
The Spanish classes will be very festive and students will how important Navidad is for the Spanish community.
What is Las Posadas?
Posadas are an important part of Mexico and Latin America traditions. These community celebrations take place on each of the nine nights leading up to Christmas, from December 16th to the 24th. The word
posada
means "inn" or "shelter" in Spanish, and in this tradition, Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem …

School Fund Drive Pledges Due
|
Did you know that you can make a pledge to the
School Fund Drive
today and that you have until June to pay? That’s right! With Christmas just around the corner we realize that you have other ways to spend your money, so contact
Carrie Morrissey
to make your pledge and take your time paying it.
Thank you to everyone that has already made a pledge this year! You are the reason we have excellent programs. Our pledges are over $37,000, inching closer toward our goal of $80,000. The
School Fund Drive
makes a huge difference in our ability to provide quality programs, accessible to all, beyond what tuition dollars provide. Make your donation today to keep our doors open and welcoming to all!
|
|
|
|
Look for a separate email soon with more School Fund Drive updates. Having 100% of our families and staff pledging support is our main goal here in school. Participation can be at any level. Spread the good news of what OLG School is doing!
If you have not yet made a gift, please prayerfully consider what amount makes sense for your family and pledge accordingly.
Our Lady of Guadalupe,
Pray for Us!
