American Muslims are shocked and deeply saddened by the ongoing wave of violence and brutal

murder of thousands of innocent lives in Gaza and Palestine. This violence is the result of bigotry, hate,

and ignorance, which is being condemned nationally and globally. American youth and people of

conscience are raising their voices at university campuses and streets, but aggressors are not paying

attention to their protests. American Muslims stand in deep solidarity with our Palestinian brothers

and sisters during this time, and we call on all parties and governments around the world to exert

pressure on Israel to cease its violence and war on the Palestinian people.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Palestine and Lebanon

Urgent Call for Ceasefire and Support

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) expresses grave concern over the escalating

violence and humanitarian crises affecting the people of Palestine, Lebanon, and other places. In

recent days, the situation has worsened dramatically, with devastating consequences for civilians

in these regions.

ISNA President Dr. Syed Imtiaz Ahmad said that according to public data, more than 42,509

Palestinians have lost their lives since October 7, 2023, and more than 1,900,000 have been

displaced within Gaza. He added that this human catastrophe cannot be allowed to worsen with

further escalation. 

Humanitarian Emergency in Palestine

The ongoing conflict in Gaza and the West Bank has reached new levels of intensity, placing

immense strain on the already vulnerable Palestinian population. Civilian casualties have risen as airstrikes continue to target residential areas, medical facilities, and essential infrastructure.

Thousands of families have been displaced, and access to basic needs such as food, clean water, and medical care is severely limited.

Lebanon Faces Mounting Challenges

In Lebanon, the recent escalation of hostilities has placed additional burdens on a nation already

grappling with economic instability and the displacement of thousands of refugees. Areas near

the southern border, Beirut and Bekaa have been particularly affected, with many civilians

caught in the crossfire. There is an urgent need for humanitarian aid, including shelter, medical

supplies, and food assistance.

A Call for Ceasefire and Immediate Assistance

We urgently call for an immediate ceasefire in all affected regions to halt the violence and

protect innocent lives. Additionally, we implore governments, international organizations, and

the broader global community to prioritize humanitarian assistance for those in need. The lives

of millions of innocent civilians are at risk, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure their

safety and dignity during this critical time.

As a faith-based, non-political and non-partisan organization, we stand committed to advocating

for the protection of all civilians affected by these crises and supporting efforts to provide

humanitarian relief and end the violence.

Prophetic Description (Sham'ail)

Imam al-Tirmidhi's Al-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyya contains 414 Hadith that together present a detailed description of the moral, physical and spiritual qualities of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.This course is designed to give you the following:Deep knowledge of the character, behavior, and personal qualities of Allah's Messenger ﷺ.Understanding of why knowledge of the character of the Prophet ﷺ is central for all areas of the religion.Enriched appreciation for the world and the worldview of the Companions رضي الله عنهم and the Early Generations of Muslims.Renewed and strengthened love for Allah's Messenger ﷺ, knowledge of him, and desire to see him in this life and the next.

Quran Exegesis (Juz Amma)

Like Introduction to Hadith, this course allows students to try their hand at applying the grammatical concepts learnt in other courses to analyze and interpret Islamic primary sources. The course methodically guides students through the last Juz’ of the Qur’an and gives students experience translating the uniquely dynamic and engaging style of the Qur’an’s Arabic into English. Along with simple translation, students will learn to recognize and appreciate the thematic coherence between verses and chapters, the deeper meanings of Arabic words, grammatical nuances, the historical context of the revelation of various ayahs, and Qur’anic commentary based on Hadith and the authoritative interpretations of the recognized exegetes of the first generations of Islam. Students are also encouraged to develop and discuss personal reflections on the Qur'anic text and lessons for their contemporary times.

Dates: Oct 7 - Nov 25, 2024 on Mondays
