Welcome to virtual worship for this, the 19th Sunday after Pentecost

You can access the texts for Sunday by following this link:
This week, we will utilize Morning Prayer - just because we can - as we hear reports from a few of our commissions and parish leaders concerning the good work they are doing in the parish and the wider community. Isaiah and Paul will add their thoughts via the lectionary. Since this Sunday also kicks off our annual Stewardship campaign, what better time than to hear about how we are investing our time and energy and resources in the service of the kingdom.

As always, we will open the worship space at 9:45 AM to give everyone a chance to do a little greeting before the service begins at 10. And, we will once again be called into silent reflection before the service begins.

In these difficult times, I believe the best way to stay sane is to honestly stop and count our blessings. Blessings come in many forms, and sharing our blessings with others is a sure way to enhance them. St. Francis tells us “for it is in giving that we receive” and hopefully, even during these difficult times, we will be able to continue to give as generously as is possible to continue the important work of our church.

This year, our annual pledge drive will begin on October 11 and conclude with our virtual Commitment Sunday on November 22. Your stewardship committee will be sending you a packet with your pledge card but this year you may also go to our website to complete an online pledge. I invite you to receive this with grace and prayer as you consider how you will
share what you can.

You know you've been meaning to do it. You know it's the right thing to do. Well, now's your last chance to help All Saints help the charities that help the children of Calvert County. The We Love Calvert Arts Festival $10K Benefit for Children needs you to get us over the top and raise $10,000 for five charities that support our County’s children. The deadline is tomorrow, October 10. Forget procrastinating and click on this link NOW: (https://www.allsaints1692.org/) to donate through EasyTithe. Checks, cash, credit card, PayPal also accepted. Your very last chance to do the right thing for our children is tomorrow for the celebration parade. Join the fun and safely celebrate the fundraiser’s success by being in our parade.  Drive to the north end lower parking lot of All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 Lower Marlboro Road, by 5:45 PM, October 10. Bring COVID-safe masks, noisemakers (bells, horns, pots and pans), congratulations signs, flags – whatever the spirit moves you to bring. Bring a few bucks cash or check to top off the fund – even if you’ve already contributed generously to the fundraiser.

All Saints has been doing incredible things this year! But, sometimes contending with multiple crises can be distracting. As the old saying goes, “When you’re up to your neck in alligators, it’s hard to remember you’re there to drain the bayou!” As a Parish, we resolved to continue the practice of having occasional update services in our year of worship to provide you with All Saints’ progress toward our collective objectives. Even a pandemic won’t stop us. Sunday, October 11, is the day! We’re planning a virtual service that will combine elements of morning worship with select, brief reports from Committees, Commissions and Officers – all to be done in about the usual time of our virtual services. Ahead of the service, you will receive a concise update by mail or email that includes accomplishments of all committees and commissions; there will be opportunity to discuss those.

MASKS restocked. There is a new supply of adult and child sized face masks available in the back of the church.

Outreach Breakfast Returns
Mark your calendars now. Our Outreach Breakfast is coming back... virtually. Ken+ will open the Zoom meeting at 9 AM, Sunday October 18, for those who would like to have time to chat, drink a cup of coffee or have your breakfast together. We might not be sitting next to each other in the Parish Hall, but we can certainly creatively continue the tradition online. As we gather together, please consider an Outreach donation as you would when we gather together for a delicious breakfast provided by our Parish chefs. Use this link to donate: https://app.easytithe.com/App/Form/75a4c0ce-62fc-401c-abaf-991d27947bcf .

‘Live’ worship service planned. On Sunday afternoon, October 18th at 3pm, the Worship Commission is planning All Saints’ first ‘live’ worship service since COVID-19 forced us to shelter at home. The socially-distant Vespers Service for Peace and Spiritual Renewal will take place on the stage and lawn in front of the Parish Hall. It will also be available to watch on Zoom and will be recorded for later viewing. Temporary distancing circles will be painted on the grass in which individual households will ‘reside’ during the service. Social distancing will be strictly enforced and no direct socializing before or after the service will be allowed. Please note that MASKS ARE REQUIRED for the entirety of the service to ensure the safety of everyone present. Bring your own seating (folding chairs or blankets), as no furniture may be removed from the Parish Hall. (And we encourage you to not need use of the restroom facilities during the time you are on the church campus, so ‘go’ before you leave home! The restroom must be sanitized after each use and we prefer to keep that at a minimum.) Please RSVP to Deb Watson, Worship Commission chairperson, so we know how many ‘circles’ to provide: sdswatson@comcast.net In the event of rain, a rain date will be announced.

I Am Thankful For....
We will celebrate Thanksgiving very soon. (Can it be that Thanksgiving is less than 2 months away?) Even though this year has been difficult for all of us, we have so much for which to be thankful. Giving thanks is a part of our daily lives, but it plays a major role in any Thanksgiving celebration. This year at All Saints', we would like you to share with all of the parishioners some things that you are thankful for. click https://conta.cc/3hKpaPe to find out about the parish-wide project that the Parish Family Life Commission has in store for us!

The Maryland Statewide Transit Plan is an initiative of the Maryland Transit Administration and will provide guidance on the need for transit services and connectivity in Maryland.

Here is what you need to know about the plan:
  • Includes a 50-year vision for transit, based on existing regional and local plans, proposed projects, and analysis of future activity centers, demographics, and transit needs.
  • Builds upon the transit services that exist today and creates a framework for coordinated transit service and customer experience.
  • Developed with input from a broad range of partners, including other state agencies, local and regional governments, public and private transit providers, business and non-governmental organizations, and the public.
You are invited to take the online survey which will be available through October 25th by visiting the project website:
Parish buildings are not open now. Only individuals specifically authorized for an essential service may be in them (e.g., Heartfelt food packing). Those authorized individuals must wear masks, must practice social distancing and must sanitize touch areas as they enter and as they leave. This is not a matter of personal choice and applies to everyone including volunteers, business suppliers, and contract personnel. If you note a deviation, you may politely remind the individual. If you are not comfortable doing that or doing so doesn’t correct the problem, please contact a church officer. A sign in sheet Is at each entrance. Please fill it out with your name, date and time in/out of the parish hall. Thank you.
Reminder From the News Team. Info and flyers to be published in the November monthly newsletter needed to be received via email by Tuesday, October 27. Please send information to allsaints1692@allsaints1692.org AND allsaints1692connections @gmail.com. This allows time for editing and clarification when needed. Please submit your event in the form you wish it to appear and complete. Example: If it's a cooking show, please include the recipe with the copy.
