You can access the texts for Sunday by following this link:

This week, Isaiah offers some hope to the exiles in Babylon with the breaking news that Cyrus of Persia may just be the vehicle for God's deliverance from captivity that they have been waiting for; Paul offers greetings to the faithful of Thessalonica in what may be the oldest epistle in the New Testament and... Matthew's Jesus outsmarts the pharisees in another taxing battle of wits. (Oh, where will our esteemed deacon, Lisa Siciliano+, take us with these lections?)

As always, we will open the worship space at 9:45 AM to give everyone a chance to do a little greeting before the service begins at 10. And, we will once again be called into silent reflection before the service begins.

Skills Extravaganza

Extra special event with guest presenter Ken Mathews, a good friend of All Saints who discovered us through the Calvert Arts Festival, for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct 24 Skills Extravaganza. He and his delight wife Martha are faithful members of Les Saints du Vin, our wine tasting group. An accomplished home wine maker, Ken will explain how to make your own very nice wines. He grows a lot of his own grapes, but also purchases grapes and juice for his production. This fascinating presentation may peek your interest into learning more and making your own wine or help you understand how good wine is made and why it is worth the price to have someone else make it! Make a point to join us as Ken explains the tricks of the trade.

‘Live’ worship service planned. On Sunday afternoon, October 18th at 3pm, the Worship Commission is planning All Saints’ first ‘live’ worship service since COVID-19 forced us to shelter at home. The socially-distant Vespers Service for Peace and Spiritual Renewal will take place on the stage and lawn in front of the Parish Hall. It will also be available to watch on Zoom and will be recorded for later viewing. Temporary distancing circles will be painted on the grass in which individual households will ‘reside’ during the service. Social distancing will be strictly enforced and no direct socializing before or after the service will be allowed. Please note that MASKS ARE REQUIRED for the entirety of the service to ensure the safety of everyone present. Bring your own seating (folding chairs or blankets), as no furniture may be removed from the Parish Hall. (And we encourage you to not need use of the restroom facilities during the time you are on the church campus, so ‘go’ before you leave home! The restroom must be sanitized after each use and we prefer to keep that at a minimum.) Please RSVP to Deb Watson, Worship Commission chairperson, so we know how many ‘circles’ to provide: sdswatson@comcast.net In the event of rain, a rain date will be announced.

I Am Thankful For....
We will celebrate Thanksgiving very soon. (Can it be that Thanksgiving is less than 2 months away?) Even though this year has been difficult for all of us, we have so much for which to be thankful. Giving thanks is a part of our daily lives, but it plays a major role in any Thanksgiving celebration. This year at All Saints', we would like you to share with all of the parishioners some things that you are thankful for. click https://conta.cc/3hKpaPe to find out about the parish-wide project that the Parish Family Life Commission has in store for us!

The Maryland Statewide Transit Plan is an initiative of the Maryland Transit Administration and will provide guidance on the need for transit services and connectivity in Maryland.

Here is what you need to know about the plan:
  • Includes a 50-year vision for transit, based on existing regional and local plans, proposed projects, and analysis of future activity centers, demographics, and transit needs.
  • Builds upon the transit services that exist today and creates a framework for coordinated transit service and customer experience.
  • Developed with input from a broad range of partners, including other state agencies, local and regional governments, public and private transit providers, business and non-governmental organizations, and the public.

You are invited to take the online survey which will be available through October 25th by visiting the project website:
PLEASE NOTE AND RESPECT
Parish buildings are not open now. Only individuals specifically authorized for an essential service may be in them (e.g., Heartfelt food packing). Those authorized individuals must wear masks, must practice social distancing and must sanitize touch areas as they enter and as they leave. This is not a matter of personal choice and applies to everyone including volunteers, business suppliers, and contract personnel. If you note a deviation, you may politely remind the individual. If you are not comfortable doing that or doing so doesn’t correct the problem, please contact a church officer. A sign in sheet Is at each entrance. Please fill it out with your name, date and time in/out of the parish hall. Thank you.
Reminder From the News Team. Info and flyers to be published in the November monthly newsletter needed to be received via email by Tuesday, October 27. Please send information to allsaints1692@allsaints1692.org AND allsaints1692connections @gmail.com. This allows time for editing and clarification when needed. Please submit your event in the form you wish it to appear and complete. Example: If it's a cooking show, please include the recipe with the copy.
