Oktoberfest Volunteers Needed!
The 13th Annual St. Benedict Oktoberfest is coming up Sept. 15-17, 2017. Many, many hands are needed to make this event successful, and we ask you to please consider volunteering as much as you possibly can!!  The volunteer website is now LIVE and ready for you to sign up! Don't forget - the earlier you sign up, the better the selection of times and locations available. As you know, this event raises vital dollars our parish needs to support our school. Click here to volunteer.
School Lunch
This year families will have the option of ordering lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting in September. The lunch ordering window for September/October is now open, and lunch orders can be placed through ParentsWeb.  Lunch orders for September/October must be placed by Thursday, August 31. On days when school lunch is not an option, all students must bring a lunch from home.
Altar Servers
If your student would like to be an altar server at School Masses, please see the registration form here. Altar servers must be baptized Catholic students in grades 3-8 who have already made their First Communion. They must also serve weekend Masses at St. Benedict or their home parish. The next altar server training at St. Benedict Church will be held November 4 at 10:00am for those still needing to be trained.
Students representing St. Benedict and the other Catholic schools of the diocese were present at the Cathedral for Bishop DiLorenzo's funeral Mass.
PTO News
Comet Shop: The Comet Shop will be open starting Tuesday, September 5. We will open every Tuesday during lunch periods. We will have school supplies, spirit wear, and lots of other items available. All proceeds go directly to the school.

Message from the PTO President: A big "Thank You" to all the families that joined us for the PTO meeting this past Thursday. As PTO president, I greatly appreciate the effort made by those parents that came out on a work/school night and took an interest in what is happening at SBCS. Some came alone, some came with spouses, some came with kids, some were familiar and some were new to our school. The room was attentive and enthusiastic.

Please remember that attending the PTO meetings is a great way to stay connected with things happening in the school and it also counts as an hour towards your volunteer hours. If you missed our meeting please be sure to check your emails as the meeting notes will be sent via your classroom reps. We'd love to see you at next month's meeting on Thursday, September 14. All are welcome to attend!

The PTO is still in search of room reps for JK, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th grades. If you are interested in being a representative for your child's class please visit www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0e45ada623a0f94-sbcs to learn about the responsibilities and to sign up.
