CLASSICAL EDUCATION CORNER
Tag Day, Monday, December 18th
The cost of Monday's tag day will be $2.00 and the theme will be Christmas. Time for the students to wear red, green, their tacky sweater, or their Santa hat. All other tag day protocol remains the same.  Please consult the handbook if you are in doubt about them. If the student would rather not dress in a Christmas theme, they are expected to wear their regular uniform that day.
Santa's Shop
It's now right around the corner! Just one more day to get your closets cleaned out and make a donation for our Santa Shop. The kids will shop on  Monday, December 18th (this is a calendar change)!  Please bring your gently used and new items to the school by December 13th so our shop will be ready!  Money collected will go towards scholarships and the 8th grade field trip. Suggested items: candles, Christmas decorations, ties, scarves, new socks, new hats( never worn), books, wrapping paper, picture frames, vases, jewelry, kitchen and dining ware, stationary, toiletries, tools, board games, stuffed animal, baby items, and other new or gently used gifts. Thank you for your contributions!
New Music Teacher
We have a new music teacher! Warmest welcome to Alicia DeLoach Thompson. Alicia earned a Bachelors of Music from Valdosta State University and a Master of Music from Georgia State University. Her area of concentration was vocal performance and she has experience with acting, dance, opera, and as a church soloist and chorister.  Most recently, she has offered private voice and piano lessons for individuals and groups. We are excited that she will be sharing her experience and love of music with our students.

Lessons and Carols
Lessons and Carols is TONIGHT at Saint Benedict Church, 6:30pm! The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus.  The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music. PTO News
Now is the time to bring in your gently used uniforms so that we can prepare for the uniform swap. Donated uniforms should be in good condition. All uniforms must be in a bag labeled with your name and number of items donated so that you can get credit.  The date of the swap is still to be confirmed. Stay tuned!

A reminder to all: It is your responsibility to enter your hours in RenWeb. Each family is required to fulfill 20 support hours per year, 8 of which must be completed in the first semester. If you have completed these hours but have not yet entered them, please take the time to do so now. If you sill need to fulfill hours, the opportunities listed above are a great way to satisfy them. A fee of $40 per unfulfilled hour will be assessed on January 1, 2018.
Planning for Christmas
On December 23, the 5:30pm vigil Mass (for the Fourth Sunday of Advent) will be celebrated as normal. On December 25, the Fourth Sunday of Advent coincides with Christmas Eve. Therefore, rather than celebrate both the 8:30am and 11:00am Masses on December 24, there will be a single 10:00 am Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent.

The parish's schedule for Christmas Masses will be as follows:
December 24: 5:30pm (vigil), 12:00 Midnight (Ordinary Mass in Latin; Christmas music 30 minutes before Mass begins); December 25: 10:00 am.

Catholics must attend two separate Masses to fulfill the obligation for the Fourth Sunday of Advent and for Christmas. The obligation for the Fourth Sunday of Advent can be fulfilled on either December 23 at 5:30pm OR on December 24 at 10:00am or 5:30pm. (Thus, one need not attend a Fourth Sunday of Advent Mass to fulfill the Sunday obligation; the Christmas vigil Mass would suffice). The obligation for Christmas can be fulfilled on either December 24 at 5:30 pm or on December 25 at 12:00 Midnight or at 10:00am. Attending a single Mass on December 24 does NOT fulfill both obligations simultaneously.

Confession before Christmas: We are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Penance in preparation for Christmas. Confessions will be heard on Saturday, December 23, at 10:00am and 4:30pm.
