Relocation and Business Guide

The Central Maryland Chamber's new Relocation and Business Guide is officially out!

This beautiful publication is a premier source for information on our region and all the businesses in the chamber.

Copies of the guide will be mailed and hand delivered to all members in the chamber. In addition, over 3,500 copies will be disseminated throughout our communities and placed at key locations.

Not only is this guide a great resource on amenities and a wonderful way for us to showcase your business, but you can also use it to meet your business-to-business needs.

We encourage you to stop by the chamber offices for additional copies. There is also a digital copy you can use and share with your network!
Town Center Blvd Opens!
Major Road Artery at Fort Meade
Town Center Blvd is finally complete and opening to traffic! This is a major artery for Odenton Town Center and the area surrounding Fort Meade.

Planning for the new road began in 2010 when Anne Arundel County approved a private-public partnership with The Halle Companies. This new road creates a biker/hiker trail, roadway and sidewalk from MD Route 175 though the MD Route 32 underpass to Town Center Boulevard in Seven Oaks.

A project the chamber has advocated for and supported for years, this opening marks a big milestone for infrastructure improvement in the region!

Regional Economic Development Committee
The Regional Economic Development Committee (rEDC) helps chamber members grow their businesses by leveraging regional assets to create more prosperous opportunities.

We do so in three themes:

·          Connect – identifying opportunities and fostering relationships across localities
·          Promote – strengthening existing and new assets vital to regional growth

Current Pursuits:
1.       Connect members to resources on regional topics (transportation, workforce, etc.) by highlighting in weekly e-newsletters and posting to chamber website
2.       Host 2-3 interactive events per year that focuses on a regional asset (first will be Tipton Airport November 2018)
3.       Explore ways to encourage regional growth and improve quality of business/life

Committee Meetings:

Paid Sick Leave Impacts
We Want to Advocate for Your Business!
The Central Maryland Chamber partners closely with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, which is currently collecting feedback on the effects of HB-1 Sick & Safe Leave Act (i.e. Paid Sick Leave). We want to hear from you and better understand the impact of the new law on your business.

This will help us prepare to advocate on your behalf as the next session begins in Annapolis. Collecting and sharing your experiences will help tremendously as we seek to amend and alleviate some of the more burdensome aspects of the new law.

Please just take a few minutes to answer the survey. Thank you for your valuable input!
Employer-to-Employee (E2E)
Great Voter Turnout by Businesses

The political season is in full swing and we want to capitalize on the importance of employer-to-employee (E2E) communication within our business community to encourage greater voter turnout!

Employees trust the information they receive from their employers – in fact 65% of them are more likely to vote based on the information received from their employers . Here are a few tools you can use:
  • Vote for Jobs website allows individuals to register to vote, check their registration status, learn about absentee ballots and early voting, and find their polling location
By taking part in the political process, you can help to elect officials who will go get things done in support of pro-growth policies that promote opportunity and job creation!
**Early Voting starts October 25th and goes to Nov. 1, 2018**
Are you interested in government policy and legislation that can impact your business? If so, you should consider joining the chamber's Legislative Council , which sets the chambers legislative advocacy initiatives. Just email to inquire about joining or further details.
Happy Cyber Security Awareness Month!

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), a time to focus on how cybersecurity is a shared responsibility that affects all businesses. NCSAM is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its public and private partners, to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and individual cyber hygiene.
