DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Congratulations to our winter guards who had their opening competition this past weekend at Independence High School. Both groups have moved up a class this season. The JV team finished a strong 8th out of 14 in a division of mostly varsity guards from other schools. Our Varsity team brought home 1st place in Scholastic Open, finishing ahead of the next guard by a whopping 5 points!
This past weekend also saw AFM and the band host the 50th annual Campana Jazz Festival. Though the Amador groups did not compete they did all receive Unanimous Superior ratings from the judges. Many thanks to festival chair Grace Hong and the dozens of parents and students who volunteered time to make the festival a success.
Coming up this week the winter guards are competing again and Wind Ensemble 1 is recording music for an important competition application. We have 19 students in the All Northern Honor Band (a record number!) and are so proud of those students, too.
Always lots going on and so much to be proud and thankful for,
Mr. Grantham & Mr. Fell
