Financial Aid Application Deadline Friday
All Oak Hill Academy families and prospective families are welcome to apply for financial aid. Those currently receiving financial aid are required to RE-APPLY EACH YEAR In order for currently enrolled students to be given priority on available financial aid funds, the application process must be completed by Friday, February 14, 2020 . Happy Valentine's Day!
To celebrate Valentine's Day Friday, students in preschool through fifth grades may wear jeans and Valentine's shirts (pink, red, etc.) to school. Individual class parties will take place before dismissal. Look to your child's teacher or room parent for party times.

Transition Fair Next Week
High school and middle school parents, along with their students, are encouraged to attend the first-ever Oak Hill Transition Fair on Tuesday, February 18 , 3:00-5:00 p.m. There will be booths and presenters from a variety of organizations offering services and support to individuals transitioning from high school. See the list below. (Parents are encouraged to attend with their child, but those who wish to visit the fair without their child may utilize our aftercare program at no charge. Please contact Sarah Krause by February 14 to reserve a spot so we can arrange staffing appropriately.)

Note: Arrival time will coincide with carpool, so parking may be a challenge. Remember you may park in the church lot, north of the campus and enter through the pedestrian gate.

Save the date for Friday, February 28, 8:30 a.m. for a special Parents Club coffee featuring speech language pathologist and author Cynthia Marlow. See her full bio. Her book series introduces hard to pronounce letters, such as R Is the Roughest Sound. Each book offers pronunciation tricks and features pictures of corresponding Dallas-Fort Worth landmarks. Learn more. She will be offering her books for sale at the presentation for $40 for a set of three (optional - cash or check only). Register to attend.
Parent Education: Strategies to Manage Screen Time
Parents are encouraged to attend a parent education workshop featuring Dr. Julia Cartwright, a psychologist at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. On Tuesday, March 10 , 6:00-7:00 p.m. Dr. Cartwright will speak about electronic media use. The presentation will include a summary of research-based information about the impact of screens, why children with developmental differences are especially impacted by them, and a discussion about how parents can address it. Click the image at right to learn more. Tadpoles Speech Language Camp Registration Now Live
Our signature Tadpoles Preschool Language Camp is designed for three- to five-year-olds with receptive and/or expressive language delays. Tadpoles offers a therapy-rich opportunity for young students diagnosed with speech language delays and social communication disorders. Each camp will be led by speech language pathologists. Study Participants Needed: 4-5 Year Olds
Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this partnership between the Callier Center for Communication Disorders and the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at UTD is researching how children with language and speech difficulties learn. The goal is to understand motor and language learning in order to develop better therapies for children with speech and language difficulties. Children will receive a free speech, language and hearing evaluation and parents receive compensation. See the flyer to learn more.

Through the Workplace Inclusion and Sustainable Employment department at UNT, the Live & Learn, College Wise and Explore STEM summer programs offer immersion opportunities for young adults with disabilities (ages 14-22) who are interested in vocational planning for their future. Normie: the Illusion of Normal; the Beauty of Love
Please join the Special Needs Partnership of Jewish Family Services for a thought-provoking evening of inspiration at a film screening of “Normie” on Wednesday, February 19 , 7:00 p.m. at Studio Movie Grill (Royal Lane and Central Expressway). The film features a young Dallas woman with Downs syndrome - as she explores what it means to be “normal” in today’s world. See the trailer. Walk4Friendship and Carnival
Friendship Circle of Dallas invites Oak Hill families to its second annual day of awareness and family fun. Walk4Friendship , a 2k walk and carnival, will be held at Kramer Elementary ( 7131 Midbury Drive ) Sunday, March 8 , 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. The fun includes rides, face painting, sensory activities, petting zoo and more!
