Save the date for  Friday, February 28 , 8:30 a.m. for a special Parents Club coffee featuring speech language pathologist Cynthia Marlow. Mrs. Marlow is a faculty member at Highland Park ISD serving students with speech, language and reading disorders, helping develop and support effective learning environments.  See her full bio . She and her sister-in-law have authored a book series introducing hard to pronounce letters, such as  R Is the Roughest Sound . Each book offers pronunciation tricks and features pictures of corresponding Dallas-Fort Worth landmarks.  Learn more . Please plan to attend Mrs. Marlow's lively and informative presentation and consider purchasing a set of her books ($40 for set of three, cash or check only). Parent Education: Strategies to Manage Screen Time
Parents are encouraged to attend a parent education workshop featuring Dr. Julia Cartwright, a psychologist at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. On Tuesday, March 10 , 6:00-7:30 p.m. Dr. Cartwright will speak about electronic media use. The presentation will include a summary of research-based information about the impact of screens; why children with developmental differences are especially impacted by them; and a discussion about how parents can address it. Click the image at right to learn more. Tadpoles Speech Language Camp Registration Now Live
Our signature Tadpoles Preschool Language Camp is designed for three- to five-year-olds with receptive and/or expressive language delays. Tadpoles offers a therapy-rich opportunity for young students diagnosed with speech language delays and social communication disorders. Each camp will be led by speech language pathologists.  Camps will take place Mondays through Fridays 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. See the Tadpoles brochure to learn more or register now .

Camp Oak Hill: The World Awaits
For first through eighth grade students, we offer two-week sessions of morning and full-day camps that incorporate academic concepts and social learning. This summer, campers will enjoy an adventurous trek around the world as they explore different cultures through hands-on activities and interactive learning. Oak Hill’s camp allows for a fun and interactive summer environment while remaining committed to sustained academic focus and maintaining school routines and social interactions. Dragons STEAM Camp
This lively and interactive summer camp for incoming fourth through ninth graders will incorporate STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, art and math) in a fun, cooperative learning environment while building physical fitness, social skills, problem solving, creativity and critical thinking. The types of activities will include: science and technology (3-D pens, snap circuits, robotics), cooperative engineering projects incorporating mathematics, music, art, physical activities and games. ‘Speechless’ Exhibit Uses Brain Science to Inform Art 
Meet Sarah Schleuning, Oak Hill parent and senior curator of the Dallas Museum of Art, in this segment that was aired on PBS News Hour yesterday. She describes the origin and process of the multisensory, interactive exhibition she curated, Speechless: Different by Design , which runs through March 22 at the Dallas Museum of Art. Speechless merges scientific research with aesthetics and invites visitors to re-think the meaning of communication. Congratulations, Sarah!
Transition Fair a Huge Success!
High school and middle school students, along with their parents attended the very successful, first-ever Oak Hill Transition Fair on Tuesday. There were booths and presenters from a variety of organizations offering services and support to individuals transitioning from high school. See the exhibitors and feel free to contact them if you were unable to attend.

Fourth Grade Service Project
Earlier this month, fourth graders partnered with same-age students at Highlander School to serve our community at Feed Lake Highlands. They brought donations of toiletries and shopping bags donated by our OHA families. They also helped carry, unload and organize donations for distribution to area families in need.  See pictures from the project.

Study Participants Needed: 4-5 Year Olds
Funded by the National Institutes of Health, this partnership between the Callier Center for Communication Disorders and the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at UTD is researching how children with language and speech difficulties learn. The goal is to understand motor and language learning in order to develop better therapies for children with speech and language difficulties. Children will receive a free speech, language and hearing evaluation and parents receive compensation. See the flyer to learn more.
Live and Learn Summer Programs at UNT
Through the Workplace Inclusion and Sustainable Employment department at UNT, the Live & Learn, College Wise and Explore STEM summer programs offer immersion opportunities for young adults with disabilities (ages 14-22) who are interested in vocational planning for their future. Walk4Friendship and Carnival
Friendship Circle of Dallas invites Oak Hill families to its second annual day of awareness and family fun. Walk4Friendship , a 2k walk and carnival, will be held at Kramer Elementary ( 7131 Midbury Drive ) Sunday, March 8 , 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. The fun includes rides, face painting, sensory activities, petting zoo and more! Funds raised will support programs and activities serving children with diverse abilities. See the flyer, grab a group of friends, and sign up for a team.
