Spring Camps 2024 - Journey After Death

The Journey After Death theme will take a deep dive into what happens after we leave this world. Inspired by Sheikh Omar Suleiman's Judgment Day series, we’ll explore the stages of the soul’s journey. We’ll cover death, the grave, the Day of Judgment, and our eternal home. This theme connects to the Hadith of the Prophet SAW: “Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler.” (Sahih al-Bukhari). It’s a reminder that this life is temporary and our real goal is what comes next. While some parts of this topic might feel heavy, we’ll also focus on Allah’s mercy, the rewards of the righteous, and the hope that comes with striving to be better. This camp will be about understanding the hereafter while learning how to live a meaningful and purposeful life today.

 HIRA Intensive 2025 is here!

This year's HIRA Intensive course will be held July 6-27, 2025 in Flint, Michigan. The Beloved Prophet (s) retreated to the Cave of Hira as a place of solitude to reflect upon himself and build his relationship with his Creator. In the same light, MYNA’s Hira Intensive calls upon youth to dedicate time towards strengthening their mind, body, and soul through a deeper understanding of the foundations of faith. From studying tafsir and fiqh to understanding who our Creator is, who His Prophet (s) is, and who we are, this program aims to equip the youth of today with the knowledge and skills to navigate the modern world around them.

Reducing our carbon and ecological footprint – Recognizing Allah’s Generosity

"The earth has been made for me a Masjid) and a thing to purify.” (Bukhari). In the Quran, the greatest sign (ayah) of Allah’s existence is His Generosity and Mercy of the natural world environments and communities. It is the palette of our supplications and ibadah. This natural palette is cyclical and not linear as reflected in the hydrologic (water) cycle, the carbon cycle, the iron cycle, the phosphorous cycle, the energy cycle, the rock cycle, the nitrogen cycle and many more inter-related cycles. Our ecological footprint is expanding, which is a demand on supply of natural resources or our God given natural capital which includes our self. Our carbon footprint is expanding, which is resource usage focusing strictly on greenhouse gases released due to burning fossil fuels causing climate change, which is 60% component of the ecological footprint. Allah (SWT) has emphasized the Mizan or balance to not exceed in the Quran as in Sura Rahman yet currently the Mizan is unbalanced. The extraction of raw materials to their waste, reuse and refurbish is their life cycle and reflects a carbon and ecological footprint. Essentially, train us during Ramadan as part of our Ibadah to help reduce our carbon footprint by reducing our food, waste, water and energy usage and energy usage during Ramadan in our Masjids and homes.
