Mark Mickelson will lead us in Worship

Dear Family & Friends,,

Tomorrow is the fourth Sunday of Lent and the fourth Sunday of our Lenten series “I AM.” Join us for Sunday morning worship as we continue our journey with Jesus to the cross.

In the past three weeks, we have looked at Jesus as the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, and the Door to salvation and to a life of everything we need.

Last week’s and this week’s scripture make reference to sheep and the shepherds who take care of the flocks. For us today, it may seem a bit foreign to hear references to Jesus as a Shepherd since we are not all that familiar with tending sheep. Even though most of us grew up in Wisconsin, which is filled with farms and pastures, our only exposure to sheep (and cows and horses and pigs) may have been when we went to the state fair and walked through the animal barns.

But for the people of Jesus’s time, the vast majority of the people of Palestine made their living through animal husbandry or agriculture. So, the people of Jesus’s time would have understood parables and references to sheep.

Scripture refers to God as a Shepherd, and Jesus refers to himself as the Good and true shepherd. This Sunday, we will take a closer look at Jesus the Good Shepherd and what that means for us as a people of God.

I invite you to Church this Sunday at 11:00 am as we discover more about Jesus as our Good Shepherd. Please also take a moment to scroll down and see the many opportunities to be part of Milwaukee MCC.

With warmest regards and blessings,

Mark Mickelson

Your presence will add to the warmth of our community as we show our appreciation for Reverend Tory’s spiritual guidance and leadership.

Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church invites you to join us in our Lenten 40 Day Challenge. This spiritual act begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Palm Sunday. Simply put your loose change from the day in the container provided. Are you fasting that expensive cup of coffee. Consider putting the cost of that, daily, in your container. It is important to commit to doing this daily, so you remind yourself each day to spend some time reflecting on your walk with Jesus to the cross.

Collection containers for your Lenten Challenge are available for you to take home, located in the Narthex. For those who prefer the convenience of digital giving, we have made the option available to submit your gift online from our website.
