From Our Principal
At a small school like St. Benedict, volunteers are so critical. We couldn't do many of the activities we do without your support. This week, I want to especially thank all of the amazing volunteers involved in our Spring Gala. We were able to add electronic bidding this year, which was new and exciting for us. We had a great turnout, and I also want to thank those who attended and invited family and friends. This event helps to support all of the activities the PTO does throughout the course of the year and contributes to the school's operating budget for things like: teacher salaries, utilities to keep the lights on and heat/AC running, as well as books and classroom supplies. It takes a TEAM effort for our school to be successful, and I feel very blessed by our wonderful community!

ATTENTION ALL 7TH AND 8TH GRADE PARENTS!

ALL 7th and 8th grade parents are asked to attend an important meeting TOMORROW , Wednesday, May 8, 2019 FROM 7:45AM - 8:30AM in the Cafeteria, to go over the
7th grade Moving Up Ceremony (June 3) and the 8th grade Graduation (June 4).

These are important events in the lives of our students and
we expect your attendance and participation.
This is when we parents 'pay it forward' for our children's graduation day!

7th GRADE PARENTS: The 7th grade class is responsible for planning and hosting the 8th Grade Graduation reception, (because it will be your children graduating next year) so your attendance at this meeting is critical Every 7th grade family will be involved - this is a passing of the torch and you'll be grateful for that next year!

8th GRADE PARENTS: This is your special day for your student and your family to enjoy, so we want to prepare you for what to expect for this happy day!

The meeting will begin promptly at 7:45am and end by 8:30am, so we can have you on your way to work well before 9am. We will have coffee and donuts. Please make arrangements now to attend. Morning Care will be available for students beginning at 7:30am.  RSVP here.

A BIG Thank you to all of our parents, parishioners, faculty and friends who joined us at this past Saturday's Gala at Les Crepes.
It was a GREAT EVENING, one of the best on record, and the fantastic roaring 20's fashion of our Gala guests was the talk of the night! SO FUN! If you have any photos from the night that we can share on our school Facebook page and next week's newsletter, please email them to Gretchen Ridgely by clicking here . THANKS!

A few sweet images from last Friday's May Crowning in honor of our Blessed Mother. We love our Catholic faith at St. Benedict!

Way to go, Mrs. Brunner's 4th Grade Class!
Did you know that St. Benedict is the ONLY parochial school to participate with the Richmond Ballet's INCREDIBLE Minds in Motion program? Last Thursday night at the Dominion Energy Carpenter Center, Mrs. Brunner's 4th grade class joined up with other private and public schools in their culminating event which told the story of Anansi the Spider. As a classical school, we love the arts and we've been blessed to be a part of this AMAZING program for years! Well done to our friends at the Richmond Ballet and to our AMAZING COMETS for a job very well done! Go Comets!

SBCS Parent Prayer Ministry

Starting in May, parents will be gathering once a week to pray for our students, our families, our school, and any intentions that the school community has. The next Parent Prayer meeting will take place Thursday, May 9 at 8:15am in the Mary Garden outside on the N. Sheppard St. entrance to Church. Drop your kids off for school, and join your fellow parents for a time of prayer. In a special way, w e'll be praying for all teachers and staff since it's Teacher Appreciation Week.  If you have questions or prayer intentions to share, please contact Rhoda Bevc at  rhodabevc@gmail.com .
