From Our Principal
As we celebrate the holiday of Thanksgiving this week, we recall how important it is in the Christian life to give thanks. Scripture is full of passages about gratitude. The very meaning of the word  Eucharist  is "thanksgiving." Here are a few of my favorite Scripture passages about being thankful:

  • "I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." (Psalm 9:1)

  • "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6)

  • "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:17)
Grandparents Day at St. Benedict - what a wonderful time!
(This is just part I from a big day with a lot of memories to capture and share! Stay tuned for next week's installment!)
Grandparents Day 2018 - Pat Maehr, Director of Development

Last Friday, over 130 grandparents and grandfriends packed Saint Anselm Hall and enjoyed a continental breakfast (with lots of coffee!), a video presentation, prayers from Father Tony, and a school update from Mr. Cruess. Our lower grade students (PK-5) and their teachers welcomed their guests into the classrooms and shared special projects. Our middle school students (6-8) got into their "House" teams and with their grandparents help, competed in "Catholic Trivia" to win House points. The morning continued with a Mass at Saint Benedict Church with the students providing the music. Veterans in attendance were recognized for their commitment and the sacrifices they made for our freedom. Students performed a rousing medley of patriotic songs and service anthems honoring our veterans and our country. Students also read a selection of war time poems and speeches. Each year Grandparents Day provides all of us with an opportunity to gather and share family love and love of country.  Thank you to our veterans and grandparents who attended. Thanks also to the PTO for providing a bounty of bagels, fruit and cookies!
