CLASSICAL EDUCATION CORNER
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
As we make our preparations for Thanksgiving, let us think of all we have to be grateful for - our families and friends, a roof over our head, a school where our children are cherished, educated, and guided to be kind and caring, strong in faith, and dedicated to their classical studies. At St. Benedict we are grateful that you have entrusted your children into our care. Thank you and may God Bless you!
Second Quarter Interims
Today marks the interim of the 2nd quarter of the school year. Parents in grades 3-8 are encouraged to check your student's grades in ParentsWeb. Primary parents are not able to see grades in ParentsWeb, so you will receive a paper progress report that will come home with your child today.
End of Summer Uniform
Remember that Thanksgiving marks the end of the summer uniform option for elementary students. From Thanksgiving through Easter students must where the regular school uniform - no shorts or skorts.
A successful Grandparents Day!
Over 130 grandparents filled Saint Anselm Hall for our Grandparents Day Celebration last Friday. Grandparents travelled near and far to support the value of an education at Saint Benedict School and the importance of family support to the student, the parents, and the school. THANK YOU to all of our grandparents who attended or sent messages to their grandchildren.

Thank you to the faculty and staff who made the day special with notes, songs, and special plans that engaged each student and grandparent.  Our middle school students, with guidance from their teachers, showcased how the work they do in all academic areas fits together in content and value. The Mass and Veterans Day program provided a meaningful end to the morning.

And last, but certainly not least, thank you to all of the PTO parents who provided the food and refreshments, as well as helped to move tables, set up and clean up! Thank you for sharing your time and effort with Saint Benedict Catholic School.
The Benedict Players presents . . .
On the evening of Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd, the Benedict Players will perform, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus." The shows will be at 7pm each night and last about an hour. There is NO cost, so come out and support this hard working group and start your Christmas season with some cheer!

Saint Benedict in Pictures This Week:
Congratulations to Saint Benedict! You brought in 1285 cans to donate to the Little Sisters of the Poor whose mission it is to feed the elderly poor.
The winning class, with a total of 237 cans, was Mrs. Herrity's 5th grade who will receive an ice cream treat after the Thanksgiving break.
Thank you to ALL who contributed to this worthy cause.
And here are our middle school students delivering the food and visiting with the Little Sisters.
PTO News
A very special THANK YOU to the volunteers who, along with Mrs. Pat Maehr, our Director of Development, made Grandparents Day a HUGE success!

The weeks leading up to Christmas Break are VERY busy! We will need lots of help to ensure all events run smoothly and successfully! Here are some suggestions:

Help set up for our Fall Sports Banquet * ... Donate cookies for Lessons and Carols * ... Give some time at the Santa Shop * helping students find what they need.
Volunteer by clicking on one of the links.

A reminder to all: It is your responsibility to enter your hours in RenWeb. Each family is required to fulfill 20 support hours per year, 8 of which must be completed in the first semester. If you have completed these hours but have not yet entered them, please take the time to do so now. If you sill need to fulfill hours, the opportunities listed above are a great way to satisfy them. A fee of $40 per unfulfilled hour will be assessed on January 1, 2018.

Our NEXT PTO meeting is Thursday, December 7th.  Please join us! We always look forward to seeing new faces!!
Giving Tuesday is NEXT week - November 28th #GivingTuesday2017
Tuesday, November is #GivingTuesday, a nation-wide reminder that Christmas is more than shopping on Black Friday and going online on Cyber Monday. It is a celebration of the birth of Christ, a time to give thanks for all that God has provided us! It should also be a time to give back. If the Christmas season is a time when you make your year-end charitable contributions, please consider Saint Benedict Catholic School on #GivingTuesday, or any time in the next month via our website:   http://www.saintbenedictschool.org/giving/donate-now.cfm
