 TODAY is Giving Tuesday #GivingTuesday2017
Today is #GivingTuesday, a nation-wide reminder that Christmas is more than shopping on Black Friday and going online on Cyber Monday. It is a celebration of the birth of Christ, a time to give thanks for all that God has provided us! It should also be a time to give back. If the Christmas season is a time when you make your year-end charitable contributions, please consider Saint Benedict Catholic School on #GivingTuesday, or any time in the next month via our website:   http://www.saintbenedictschool.org/giving/donate-now.cfm  
Santa's Shop
Is your house overstocked with goodies that you just don't use? Well it is time to do some winter cleaning just in time for the 8th grade Santa Shop coming in December (date to be confirmed!).  Looking for  gently used or new items. Please bring these items to the school so our shop will be ready!  Money collected will go towards scholarships and the 8th grade field trip. Suggested items: candles, Christmas decorations, ties, scarves, new socks, new hats( never worn), books, wrapping paper, picture frames, vases, jewelry, kitchen and dining ware, stationary, toiletries, tools, board games, stuffed animal, baby items, and other new or gently used gifts.

The Benedict Players presents . . .
On the evening of Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd, the Benedict Players will perform, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus." The shows will be at 7pm each night and last about an hour. There is NO cost, so come out and support this hard working group and start your Christmas season with some cheer! 
Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids
This week the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring their annual Coats for Kids project. If you have any gently used coats you would like to donate to this cause you may bring them to the school THIS week and drop them off in Mr. Cichocki's history room next to the office. Thank you for your generosity and support.  
Lessons and Carols
The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus.  The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music. Our students will present this event on Tuesday, December 12th at Saint Benedict Church at 6:30pm. Join us for this Advent season tradition.

As reported last week, Grandparents Day was a HUGE success.
And a picture is worth 1000 words! 
As you can see, the grandparents were welcomed with love and songs and thanksgiving and were celebrated in a special way at Mass.   
Thank you again to Pat Maehr and the PTO for a wonderful event.  
PTO News
The weeks leading up to Christmas Break are VERY busy! We will need lots of help to ensure all events run smoothly and successfully! Here are some suggestions: 

Help set up for our Fall Sports Banquet * ... Donate cookies for Lessons and Carols * ... Give some time at the Santa Shop * helping students find what they need.
Volunteer by clicking on one of the links.  

A reminder to all: It is your responsibility to enter your hours in RenWeb. Each family is required to fulfill 20 support hours per year, 8 of which must be completed in the first semester. If you have completed these hours but have not yet entered them, please take the time to do so now. If you sill need to fulfill hours, the opportunities listed above are a great way to satisfy them. A fee of $40 per unfulfilled hour will be assessed on January 1, 2018.
