STUDENT ATTENDANCE for SUCCESS and SAFETY

Attendance matters. Student success is most likely to be achieved with good attendance. We will do all we can to make school engaging. Students increase their chance at both academic and social success by being here every period. The safest place a student can be is in class. If a student misses class for any reason it should be excused by a parent.

To make parents more aware of their student’s attendance, we will:

  1. Improve the accuracy of our attendance.
  2. Send an automated caller to parents after EVERY PERIOD to notify if your student was absent (This began 9/11/23).
  3. Work to notify parents and have student/parent/school official conferences when patterns of unexcused attendance or excessive tardies emerge.
  4. Encourage all parents to download the Skyward App on your phones so you can easily see student attendance and grades anytime.

Congratulations Dance and Drama!

The dance and drama departments competed at the Utah Shakespeare festival competition in Cedar City last week. Mindy Nelson states "In our world, this is the biggest competition of the year. Our students did beautiful work, but I'm most proud of the people they chose to be down there. They were excellent examples of what it means to be kind, supportive, hardworking, authentic; really Lehi Pioneers. My team with Cheryl, Vixy and Randy are the best and I'm so lucky to work with them and see how much they help our students learn, grow and create!"

Here are our results:

First place overall (sweepstakes - this is the top award given based on every competitors overall score)

First place Ensemble scene (Drama 4 class and some technicians Mindy asked to be on stage and act!)

First place Duo/Trio scene - Abi and Eli Archer. They also both won scholarships.

Second place Duo/Trio scene - Alex Colqui, Talmage Howlett, and Tyler Wilkinson

There are 17 schools in our division and each group can bring 2 Duo/Trio Scenes, 3 Monologues, 1 Acting Ensemble Scene, 1 Dance Ensemble and 1 Dance Duo/Trio. Lehi made a great showing and received some perfect scores!

Congratulations Marching Band and Color Guard!

Congratulations to Lehi High School Marching Band! Placing 2nd at Oquirrh Mountain Invitational, 1st at Bridgerland Bands invitational, 1st at Wasatch Front Invitational. The color guard swept the caption awards, winning the award for best color guard each week! In addition they have won visual and music caption awards.

This week the Marching Band and Color Guard will compete at the Davis Cup, followed by a Tour to California to compete at The RCC Orange Classic. Our competition on October 28th will set us up for placement to compete at the State competition in St George the first of November. Good Luck Marching Band!

Pre Voter Registration Event

The Government and Citizenship teachers are working on a pre-voter registration drive. In the state of Utah anyone 16 years old can pre-register to vote so when they turn 18 a ballot will automatically come in the mail for them. On October 31st the Women League of Voters will be coming to present an educational seminar and pre-register our students. All Gov and Cit students will need to have a permission slip signed in order to pre-register.

Permission slips will be handed out in Government and Citizenship classes.
