From Our Principal
Interestingly, a number of studies have shown a strong correlation between board games and academic achievement. In addition to the possible academic benefits, board games are a great way to strengthen family bonds. Here are a few suggestions of games for different age levels.  Sorry  is a simple game for younger children. It gives them a chance to practice counting and learn good sportsmanship. To help develop spacial reasoning,  Blokus  challenges students to fit geometrically shaped pieces into spaces on a grid. For older students who enjoy games of strategy and critical thinking, try out  Settlers of Catan . Take some pictures of your family game night, and email them to admissions@saintbenedictschool.org and we'll post them on Facebook later in the month!
Parent Teacher Conferences 2018
Conferences are planned for Thursday, November 8th 4pm-7pm and Friday, November 9th 7:30am-12:00pm. Parent-Teacher Conferences are not required but are encouraged, especially for students having difficulty in some aspect of their education. For elementary students, we encourage all parents to schedule a conference with your child's homeroom teacher. Middle school parents do not need to meet with every teacher, only those with whom they feel time is needed. If your child is doing well in all courses and you do not have any concerns, you do not need to schedule a conference. Specials (elective) teachers are not part of the Parent-Teacher Conference days. If you have questions, please call Pam Autry at (804) 254-8850.  Sign Up Genius will close at noon on Tuesday, November 6th. Click HERE to sign up!
Grandparent's & Grandfriends Day is Friday, November 16; 9 am - 12:30 pm

Invitations are being mailed this week and we can't wait to meet all of our special guests! Please make sure your child's grandparent/grandfriend sends in their RSVP by November 13th to:  rsvp@saintbenedictschool.org  or call 804-254-8850. If you intend for your child to go home after the Mass with their grandparent/grandfriend, please make sure YOU fill out a permission slip/letter stating the person who will be picking up your child from Church. No dismissals can occur without permission slips on file.

Fall Fest FUN!! Thanks to everyone who pitched in and made it such a good time for the kids (and parents!)
Have you made  your  donation or pledge to our Comet Campaign?

Why?    Saint Benedict’s Comet Campaign provides our students and faculty with those extras not covered in our tuition or budget. We ask you, our families, to help close that gap! Let's get to 100% this year, as we prepare for our 100th year!

It's easy:    You can make an outright gift or you can pledge your gift and make payments monthly. Click  HERE  for a form, that can be filled out and sent to school with your child or you can make a donation via PayPal on our website  HERE .

Thank you to all the parents, guardians, grandparents, siblings and staff members of Saint Benedict Catholic School who have already signed up for your 2018-2019 support hours. One of the Student Council projects is the collection of soda can tabs which we donate to The Ronald McDonald House on Monument Avenue.  This charity provides a place for families to stay while a loved one receives medical treatment in the area. Those pop tops can be sent to Mr. Cichocki's classroom.
