From Our Principal
Prayer is a fundamental part of the Christian life. It involves far more than simply asking God for favors. Prayer is how we communicate and build a relationship with God, aligning our will and desires to His. At Saint Benedict, we try to start each school day and each school event with prayer, and I hope that prayer is a daily part of the life of each of our families. As an added reminder about the importance of prayer, each of our students will be assigned a prayer partner from another class. I ask that our students pray for their prayer partner by name each day. We will be sending home the prayer partners to parents this week, so you can remind your student in case they forget. I encourage every one of our families to set aside time each day for family prayer. Family prayer time is an incredible occasion for grace and blessing.
Inclement Weather / School Closing REMINDER
With the potential of severe weather, this is a good time to check your Parent Alert settings. We use Parent Alert (part of Parents Web) to notify families in the event of closures. You can check your Parent Alert preferences and settings, by logging into Parents Web and reviewing Family Information - Family Profile - Preferences. If you need to update the information go to School Information - Web Forms - Parent Alert.
Mrs. Brunner's 4th Graders Begin the Day with Latin
Latin is a wonderful part of our student's education here at Saint Benedict. Mrs. Brunner's 4th Grade class begins their Latin class chanting the beautiful "Christus Vincit" ("Christus Vincit"....“Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!” – “Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands”
House System Update: House Shirts Distributed
All students should have received their House shirts on Friday.  Since the Feast Days for St. Augustine and St. Gregory have already passed, those two Houses are encouraged to wear their House shirts this Thursday, September 13 .  The t-shirt is the only change to the uniform; all other uniform guidelines should still be followed. Jerome House will get to wear their shirts on October 1 (St. Jerome's Feast Day is September 30, but falls on a Sunday this year), and Ambrose House will get to wear their shirts on December 7. In addition, we will soon be announcing four House Days over the course of the school year. On each of these days, students in all four Houses should wear their t-shirts.

Parents Connection: For Your Marriage Website

The website was launched in 2007 as part of the  National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage , an initiative of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to communicate the meaning and value of married life for the Church and for society. Band and Music Lessons
We believe that music is a very important part of a well-rounded education. A number of diocesan schools have partnered with the Greater Richmond School of Music to provide students with opportunities for Band (for students in grades 4-8) and private music lessons that the schools cannot offer on their own. For more information about these wonderful opportunities, please visit: https://grsm.net/grsm-st-benedict-catholic-school/ .
