September 12, 2017
Saint Benedict Oktoberfest is this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Please sign up to volunteer and bring your family to enjoy the fun.

This Friday, September 15, the church parking lot and some of the neighboring streets will be closed for Oktoberfest. One of the street closures is Belmont Avenue, between Stuart and Grove. Because Belmont will be closed, we will have to modify our car line for the day ( view map here). We have tried to change the process as little as possible. Please carefully follow these procedures on Friday.

Morning Drop Off
(For students arriving for morning care, you will need to find street parking and walk your child to the ramp entrance.)
  • Drive down Hanover Avenue toward the VMFA
  • Turn right onto Cleveland Avenue
  • Students will be let out of their cars on Cleveland across from the St. Benedict Alley
  • Teachers will escort students down the alley to the school
  • After dropping off students, proceed to Grove Avenue and turn right onto Grove
Afternoon Pick Up
(For walkers, you will need to find street parking and walk to the door where you normally pick students up. Parents picking up students from ASE will have to find street parking and walk to the ramp door - ASE will be available from 1:30-6:00pm.)
  • Drive down Hanover Avenue toward the VMFA
  • Turn right onto Cleveland Avenue
  • Students will be seated by class in the St. Benedict Alley
  • Teachers will help students into their vehicles on Cleveland Avenue
  • After picking up students, proceed to Grove Avenue and turn right onto Grove
Oktoberfest Volunteers Needed!
The  13th Annual St. Benedict Oktoberfest  is coming up THIS WEEKEND Sept. 15-17, 2017. This event raises critical funding for our school and we need ALL HANDS ON DECK!  THERE ARE STILL MANY SHIFTS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NEEDING TO BE FILLED. This is a great way to knock out a bunch of your required volunteer hours! Please do what you can, get your friends and family to help out too, and make it a great time. Click here to volunteer.
Tag Day for Hurricane Harvey Relief
The money raised from our Tag Day last week is going to True Cross Catholic School in Dickinson, Texas. We have been in contact with the school principal. Their school was devastated by the hurricane, and they are currently holding classes at another nearby Catholic school. They are very grateful for our assistance.
Altar Servers
If your student would like to be an altar server at School Masses, please see the registration form here. Altar servers must be baptized Catholic students in grades 3-8 who have already made their First Communion. They must also serve weekend Masses at St. Benedict or their home parish. The next altar server training at St. Benedict Church will be held November 4 at 10:00am for those still needing to be trained.
Students try to figure out a "mystery substance" for science.
