Spring Camps 2024 - Journey After Death
The Journey After Death theme will take a deep dive into what happens after we leave this world. Inspired by Sheikh Omar Suleiman's Judgment Day series, we’ll explore the stages of the soul’s journey. We’ll cover death, the grave, the Day of Judgment, and our eternal home. This theme connects to the Hadith of the Prophet SAW: “Be in this world as though you were a stranger or a traveler.” (Sahih al-Bukhari). It’s a reminder that this life is temporary and our real goal is what comes next. While some parts of this topic might feel heavy, we’ll also focus on Allah’s mercy, the rewards of the righteous, and the hope that comes with striving to be better. This camp will be about understanding the hereafter while learning how to live a meaningful and purposeful life today.

Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Must Be Prioritized in Islamic Education
Prayer and worship are not enough to cure mental illnesses
By Anmol Irfan
Mar/Apr 25
There is no question that Islam places great importance in holistic health and emotional wellbeing. However, in the last 1,400 years, some Muslim communities replaced that focus with spiritual bypassing, the idea that we can simply pray or worship enough to fix mental health issues. While a strong spiritual connection and trust in God is helpful to one’s emotional wellbeing, it is not a magic cure-all...

Toward a Better Future
By Nana Firman
In the last 20 years, we have noticed more heatwaves, storms, and other severe weather events. The increase in wildfires, droughts, tornadoes, and hurricanes is directly related to our oceans rising, which is, in turn, directly related to the increase of global temperatures. Higher temperatures result in faster evaporation of water. When there is more water vapor in the atmosphere, we experience more frequent, more torrential storms. The increase in global temperatures, which will be catastrophic to the beautiful green planet we call home. This dramatic increase in rising global temperatures is exactly why we need to make some serious changes now. And if you have children, grandchildren, or plan to start a family, the changes that you make right now can help improve the quality of life for future generations and hopefully save the planet. Such are the kinds of commitments and actions that define us as an Ummah, of what it means to make our hijra which represents ‘adl (justice) and rahma (compassion) to the planet
and the people.
