Principal's Message

Dear SPN Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already preparing for October conferences. The Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten Parent-Teacher Conferences along with the Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences in Grades 1-8, are scheduled for the first week of October. These conferences help solidify the partnership between school and home. They are held in October so that student learning goals can be set in the first trimester. In grades 1 - 8, we have students attend the conferences in order for them to begin to take ownership of their learning.

We are using Sign Up Genius to facilitate scheduling this year’s conferences. Please see the teachers' links in the section below. You should sign up for each of your children’s classroom teachers (grade level) for Preschool through Grade 5. Middle School families must sign up for the Homeroom Teacher and may sign up for subject-specific teachers if necessary to support struggling students. Please see the instructions for scheduling the conferences below.

School Conferences October 4th - 7th

Scheduling your conference via Sign Up Genius:

You may start scheduling your conference(s) today, Tuesday, September 13th.
You have until midnight on September 20th to sign up.
Sign ups will be locked as of September 21. You will have to contact the teacher by email to schedule after that.
You will get a reminder email from Sign Up Genius 2 days prior to your appointment.

Uniform Exchange This Thursday, September 15th: PTG is hosting a uniform exchange this Thursday at 8am outside of the school gate on Jackson St. Come donate, exchange, or select gently used uniform items!
Family Travel Plans?: If your family is traveling during school days, please notify your child's homeroom teacher and spnattendance@csdo.org ahead of time. Per the SPN Parent and Student Handbook (under Absences), teachers provide work covered upon the family's return. It is the family's responsibility to make sure the material missed is understood by the student.
Otter Pops on Sale this Friday!: The 8th grade class is hosting an Otter Pop sale this Friday, September 16th after school. $1 each. See flyer below.
Volunteering at SPN: Interested in volunteering? Need to log your hours? Here's what you'll need for the 2022-23 school year. View the SPN Volunteer Requirements here. After volunteering, log your hours using the Volunteer Hours Log Sheet. Thanks for your time!

School Happenings

A special message from our Athletic Co-Directors:

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to another awesome year at SPN! I want to share with you that we have begun registration for sports teams this year. The Cross Country team is already well under way and we are hoping to get the other two Fall sports off the ground quickly. Let's get those kids practicing! Fall season sports are Boy’s Basketball and Girls Volleyball in their respective grades. Depending on the number of teams we have, we are also looking for volunteer coaches.

Finally, we still have a couple of spots open on the Athletic Board - come join the team! This is a great way to complete your volunteer hour requirements and is super rewarding to help kids achieve their athletic/fitness goals. The SPN Book Club for grades 4-8 will start on Tuesday, September 20. Led by seventh-grade student, Ronan Sturlini, the club will meet every Tuesday from 3:20-4pm in the Library. Teacher support will be provided by Ms. Kristen, please reach out to her at ksmeal@csdo.org with any questions.
