The Belonging & Inclusion Committee acknowledged the International Day of Peace at the SPN Fun Fair. They invited participants to hand-trace doves and pin them to an olive tree. They also offered positive messages with an affirmation wheel and stickers as well as calming strips with breathing exercises.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered and supported our Fun Fair this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day of enjoying one another while contributing to our parish community.

Last week’s Newsletter announced our October Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences that are coming up October 8-11. These meetings are vital to setting goals and expectations for your students for this academic year. Students in Grades 1-8 are included in these Conferences as they take responsibility for their learning. Please use these links to schedule a conference with each of your child’s classroom teachers (middle school students and families may meet with one subject specific teacher additionally if needed). The deadline for scheduling your Conferences is Friday, September 27, 2024. Thank you in advance for  your partnership in setting up your students for success in school.

Last Wednesday Cross Country had our 1st meet at Quarry Lakes and our kids did great.

The Sirvon/Castelaz Running Dynasty is going strong with Sirvon taking 1st place, Clara and Rory 2nd and Cole 3rd place. Castelaz cousin, Brynn DeGolia placing 12th and Zara Ravichandran placing 22nd.  

This was a Diocese Meet which means we are running against about 39 other schools or about 850 kids. The amount of runners in each category varied but was around 95 to 200 runners in each category.

Over half of the SPN runners beat there times from the previous year. That is crazy since it is just the beginning of the season.

This week is everyone's favorite Meet at Joaquin Miller Park this Thursday at 5:30pm. Please come out and cheer us on. 

St. Philip Neri/St. Albert the Great Parish hosts a Friday Film Series for the whole family. The theme for films in September is Teachers and Students. All are welcome, and it’s free to all. You’re welcome to bring your own snacks. 

Films start at 7:00 p.m. in O’Brien Hall.

Upcoming Events

On behalf of some SPN Alumni (Class of 2022 - Sydney, Livia, Katie. Class of 2023 - Hannah, Anabelle, Kiana, Mia, Giana and Class of 2024 - Clara, Kayla, Wendy) we'd love to extend this invite to SPN students and their families to watch the annual St. Joseph Notre Dame High School Dig Pink volleyball scrimmage versus Encinal High School on Friday, October 5th at SJND Kelly Gym. Times: Frosh at 4p, JV at 5:30pm, and Varsity at 7:00pm. Students are free to attend. 

The Frosh, JV and Varsity volleyball players raise awareness for Breast Cancer and the Side-Out Foundation, an American non-profit breast cancer charity for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. 

The SJND volleyball teams are also fundraising by selling Dig Pink t-shirts, and a portion of the proceeds go to the Side-out Foundation. 

Plus, it's some great volleyball! :)

Congratulations to Saint Philip Neri as Winner in Parent's Press "Best Of." Saint Philip Neri won in two categories Best Faith-Based Preschool and Best Faith-Based Elementary School, and placed in the Top 5 of Best Faith-Based Middle School. We are proud of our school, faculty and staff, students and families for this honor. Thank you to all of those who voted for us, and we will continue to do our best to support our students in educating the whole child and promote respectful, responsible long-life learners.
