Principal's Message

Dear SPN families,

Thank you all for attending and participating in Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences last week. The overwhelming response from faculty was that the meetings were productive and cooperative. Remember to nurture this partnership by reaching out to teachers with questions and clarifications, as they will with you, in order to best support and guide your students in having a successful school year.

I attended an administrators’ retreat last week in Santa Cruz. It was wonderful to collaborate as well as reflect with fellow colleagues. The highlight of the retreat was when each principal was presented with thank you notes from our school communities. I thoroughly enjoyed reading each and every one of the “love notes” from our students. Each student wrote a few lines of appreciation for me: it was truly “awe-some” as I read what matters to our students and how they truly see me. Our students appreciate being heard and seen, kindness, encouragement, and justice. (Apparently many of them also appreciate my sense of style!) The profound and positive impact of a sincere handwritten thank you note cannot be overstated.

Please check out the calendar of events as we have many engaging activities scheduled for October and November. We will have our first Family Mass this weekend on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. hosted by our 7th and 8th grades. Our students will serve as lectors, altar servers, and choir members to make this a very special Mass. Please join us.

Warmly,

Ms. Thomas
