Principal's Message

Caritas Creek - Parent photo from 2015 visit.

Last Friday morning our school community prayed blessings over our 8th grade class and their teacher, Ms. Taylor, in preparation for their trip to Caritas this week. The Caritas retreat is a special opportunity for our graduating class to bond with one another and to experience self discovery in the beautiful redwoods of Sonoma County. As their website describes: “One of the unique aspects of the program is the faith community-building experience of Caritas, where the focus is placed on recognizing the individual’s unique gifts and strengths. Caritas endeavors to illuminate the divine in all things and build empathy and understanding for the natural world.”

It is exciting to see our 8th grade class once again experiencing Caritas after the Covid hiatus. Previous graduating classes have considered this retreat to be a highlight of their time at SPN. Our Diocesan schools have been sending students to Caritas Creek for several decades as their program continues to transform and inspire students in powerful ways.

Please keep the 8th graders, their teacher, and their families in your prayers this week as they experience this extraordinary time of spiritual, social, and emotional growth.

Blessings,

Ms. Thomas

Information and Updates

  • Monday, October 31st/HALLOWEEN: Students may come to school in their Halloween costumes. If students are not in costume, they are to be in uniform. Costumes MUST NOT include weapons or excessive blood. Costume masks may be worn during the parade that will begin at 8:15 a.m. The “big school” students will meet the TK and Kindergarten students at Van Buren and Fountain and then proceed around the block from Central to Court to Encinal and back to Fountain. Parents are invited to attend the parade and enjoy coffee provided by our PTG. Halloween Monday is a noon dismissal.
  • All Saints Day: For Tuesday, November 1, All Saints Day, students may come to school dressed up like a saint (this is optional). They will be featured in our All School Mass at 9:30 a.m., hosted by the 7th grade. It’s helpful if students know the name of the saint they portray as well as one fact about him/her.
  • Saturday November 5, 2022 Family Mass: Grades 4 & 5 will host Family Mass on Saturday, November 5th at 5:15p.m. Please note that this dMass is just prior to the 8th grade Bingo fundraiser. We encourage all families attending the Bingo fundraiser to join us to celebrate Mass together and then go on to the Bingo event. All are welcome!
  • Bingo Night Returns to SPN: The 8th grade class invites you to their Bingo Night fundraiser on Saturday, November 5th from 6-9p.m. in O'Brien Hall. Limited childcare available - see flyer below for ticket details.
  • Math and Game Night in Candyland: Come to O'Brien Hall between 5 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8th to play with numbers and win prizes!
