Dear St. Joseph Elementary School Families,

As we are now a little bit over halfway through the 2019-2020 school year, we as the faculty and staff at SJES are offering a second set of  optional  Parent-Teacher Conferences. I spoke to you as parents about this at Back to School Night. This is an addition to our school calendar this year, and we are making this offer to continue to build Parent-School Partnership on our end.

Earlier today, you should have received an email from your child(ren)’s Homeroom Teacher, inviting you to participate in these Parent-Teacher Conferences on February 18 or 19, 2020 between the hours of 12:45pm and 3:30pm. Please know that these conferences are completely optional. If you are interested in scheduling a conference, this will provide a good opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher and check in on their progress. If you wish to schedule a conference, please reach out to the School Office at 510-522-4456.

Thank you for your partnership, and for entrusting us with your precious children every day! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Peace and Blessings,
Ms. Francisco

The SUPER CLASS Full of Super Kids- A Final Super Kid from Ms. Sagan
"Before I announce this week’s eighth grade Super Kid, I’d like to thank all of you
for the love, support and confidence you have shown me over the past three
school years.

You’ve made each Monday a day to which I’ve looked forward.

Your joy, your energy and your insatiable curiosity have made teaching here one
of the best experiences of my career.
While I will miss all of you so much, I do feel good knowing you’ll have a
wonderful new teacher in Ms. Chen — and Ms. Francisco will still be here looking
out for you too.

We’ve done some wonderful things together, I will always remember our field trip
to San Francisco and how good it felt to see my students moving through that
environment with so much poise and confidence.

Your potential is obvious and I know you’ll use it well.

As I was trying to decide which of you rated Super Kid status this week, it
occurred to me it should go to someone who is kind, thoughtful, diligent and most
of all representative of the best St Joseph Elementary has to offer. It should be
someone who demonstrates a love of learning, self-confidence and of course,
the caring nature reflected in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

With that, my final pick for eighth grade Super Kid became obvious.

It’s ALL of you!

You are ALL bright and wonderful young people with brilliant futures ahead of
you. And, you are ALL exceptional — each in your own way.

You know, each week we say congratulations on being Super Kids, when we
REALLY should be saying THANK YOU for being Super Kids.

The examples you set, the joy you bring and the excellence you demonstrate
give me great confidence in the future of our community.

It has indeed been my privilege to be part of helping you become the outstanding
adults I know you will all be and I will miss each and every one of you so very
much.

THANK YOU — for being Super Kids!

SENSATIONAL SECOND GRADE
The Second Grade Class has been a busy group this past January. The students have been preparing for their First Reconciliation and their First Communion. First Reconciliation will take place next week on February 10. To prepare, students met with Father Mario and Deacon Peter.

The students also worked on what could be their first official school "project"- their International Dolls. Students got to make dolls and pasteboards introducing a part of their heritage and what they learned about the countries and their traditions.

Finally, the Second Grade took "big steps" in math this week. They learned measurement in feet by making giant feet to measure from one place of the school to the next!
