Director's Report

Thank you to all who were able to attend Tuesday's Fall Band Concert. The students performed beautifully.

We have our second to last football game tonight, schedule linked here

And next Saturday we have our first competition at Independence High School in San Jose, schedule linked here.

This fall we have not run short on parent volunteers but would breathe easier if we had more advanced sign ups for our competitions. If you can help with our Road Warrior team (equipment load/unload and logistic support at the competition site) please sign up here

It takes a village to make the Marching Dons shine!

Thanks for your support,

Mr. Grantham & Mr. Fell

We're Only at Our 50% of Funding Need!

The Amador Marching band and music programs are self-funded extracurricular activities, it relies on individual donation and fundraising to pay for the various expense for music programs to enrich students’ experiences. We are now only reaching half of our fund needed, please consider DONATING the recommended amount to your band:

https://www.amadormusic.org/support/donate

If you haven't, please watch this short video Why Donate to Amador Music? It provides a quick and easy to understand overview on where our funds are needed.

We NEED RW Volunteers!

First Competition is Coming Soon!

Next Saturday, 10/19, is the band's first competition at Independence High School in San Jose. The Road Warriors are still short by about 10 volunteers to help move the band. Please sign up to volunteer at the competition here:
https://www.amadormusic.org/support/volunteer/roadwarriors
If you can't help at the competition, you can still help at the home base when we load the trucks, and especially when we come back and unload the trucks around 11 pm or midnight. Please download the "Remind" app on your phone and join the classroom using this link
https://www.remind.com/join/avrw24
We will provide real time update on when the trucks and buses will arrive at Amador. You can come help the students unload so that they can all go home earlier after a long, hard day at the competition!

Still Need a Few More RAs for Competitions

Overnight sign ups for both Etiwanda and Clovis are still open -- because the best experience for our kids at these events will include having enough overnight RAs for them. If you are free and are interested in signing up for an overnight RA, click on the link below. It will be such a wonderful memory that our kids will always remember. Wouldn't it be fun to be a part of those memories too? Please volunteer and share some fun times together!

We still have spots available. If you are a level 2 cleared volunteer, please sign-up here:

Medication Form for Competitions - IMPORTANT!!!

Over the Counter and Prescription Medication Form

If your child needs medication, either life saving OR over the counter, you need to fill out a form. Now is the time to get all your medical paperwork completed and signed by your medical provider. You can hand the paperwork to Jen Gables on the dates listed above. You don't need to provide the really common meds, like Advil or Tylenol...just the paperwork. Contact Jen if you have any questions.

Contract to Carry Life Sustaining Medication

If your student requires to carry medication, you need to provide a copy of the Contract to Carry to Band as well as to the school. This is because we will be traveling off-site, and the paperwork must be carried with the student. Again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Jen and she can help you.

Anaphylaxis

If your student has food allergies and requires to carry an epi pen in case of anaphylaxis, you should also provide a copy of your students care plan.

All medication for students must be in the original containers, and will not be accepted without the corresponding signed paperwork.

It is helpful if you can place the medication and 2 copies of the paperwork in a Ziplock bag with the student's name on the bag.

Medication Collections:

  • Wed 10/9  8-9:30pm (in the stadium)
  • Sat 10/12  8:30-9:30am (near the color guard room)

Quick link to the forms to be turned in, if you have not already turned them in:

***BOTH forms need a DOCTOR's signature AND a parent's signature.***

 Over the counter

 Life saving medicine

Please do not hesitate to contact Jen Gable at avhs.ra@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Food Restrictions/Allergies?

Please fill out this food restrictions/ allergies form if your student is:

  • Vegetarian
  • Allergic to gluten, sesame, or soy

Our first competition is 3 weeks away, and we need to know about any food allergies or dietary restrictions that your student may have so that we can adequately prepare the meals they need during the competitions and overnight trips! Thank you!

Questions? Please contact Radhika at snacks@amadormusic.org.

Help Provide Clean Water for the Shows!

We need volunteers to fill water bottles for our Band and Colorguard at their competitions! There is NO volunteer clearance needed for this opportunity to help. Please take a look at the Sign Up Genius link below and consider helping the kids stay hydrated. Thank you!

Beer Pouring Update

We had another fantastic event for beer pouring on 10/6! With just two people, we are able to bring in at least $450, if not more once the numbers are confirmed. The donation ask for Fall is $1400 for marching band, so see how you can lower your ask by emailing Susan Bowen at funbpour@gmail.com!
