Director's Report

Congratulations to the band on a great first competition at Independence High School. We are proud of the students and thankful for the dozens of parent volunteers who were critical to the smooth flow of the day.

We have our next competition on Saturday at Foothill High School. Here is the itinerary.

And next weekend we leave for Southern California for our first Bands of America Regional since 2017! You can find the itinerary here (there is a slide deck with trip information and packing lists both linked on the itinerary)

Thanks and go Dons!

Medication for Competitions - IMPORTANT!!!

Over the Counter and Prescription Medication Form

If your child needs medication, either prescription OR over the counter, you need to fill out a form. You can hand the forms and medication to Jen Gable on the dates listed above. It is very helpful if you can place the medication and 2 copies of the paperwork in a Ziplock bag with the student's name on the bag. Two PUSD employee RAs will be handing out medication to the kids who need daily medication on the overnight trips . Kids do not carry meds with them, unless you have turned in the contract to carry form to the school and the band.

Contract to Carry Life Sustaining Medication

If your student requires to carry medication, you need to provide a copy of the Contract to Carry to Band as well as to the school. This is because we will be traveling off-site, and the paperwork must be carried with the student. Again, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Jen and she can help you.

Anaphylaxis

If your student has food allergies and requires to carry an epi pen in case of anaphylaxis, you should also provide a copy of your students care plan.

All medication for students must be in the original containers, and will not be accepted without the corresponding signed paperwork.

It is helpful if you can place the medication and 2 copies of the paperwork in a Ziplock bag with the student's name on the bag.

Medication Collections:

  • Sat 10/26 8:45-9:15am (outside the band room)
  • Wed 10/30 8-9:00pm (in the stadium)

Quick link to the forms to be turned in, if you have not already turned them in:

***BOTH forms need a DOCTOR's signature AND a parent's signature.***

Please do not hesitate to contact Jen Gable at avhs.ra@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Where your donation goes!

Below is the annual budget shared during AFM General Meeting for supporting all the Amador Valley music programs. The recommending ask amounts are calculated based on all families contributing to the programs that their child is participating in. AFM is a non-profit organization operating with the donations from families and the fund-raising program.

Beer Pouring Update

We had three awesome beer pourers at last Sunday's game against the KC Chiefs with a brand new certified volunteer joining our team! Welcome Dipankar! This event will generate at least $225 per person for AFM and towards lowering each volunteer's donation ask. We have just a few more home games before we head into playoff season so if you are interested, contact Susan Bowen at funbpour@gmail.com

Help Provide Clean Water for the Shows!

We need volunteers to fill water bottles for our Band and Color guard at their competitions! There is NO volunteer clearance needed for this opportunity to help. Please take a look at the Sign Up Genius link below and consider helping the kids stay hydrated. Thank you!
