SLE of the Week: Saint Joseph students think critically and creatively.
Principal Newsletter
Dear St. Joseph Elementary School Families,

There is a definite buzz in the air at school! It has been an incredibly busy week preparing for El Rancho Day! It is the one event at our school where we require our parent community to come together for an incredibly worthy cause- our students, your children. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your time and treasure supporting our event.

I want to give a special thank you to our event chairs: Mrs. Suzanne Holley, Mrs. Joycie Shinzato, Mrs. Kristy Gray, Mrs. Melissa Nava-Leyva, Mrs. Jenny Jaber and Ms Alice Wong. You and your crews turn our school yard into its own village in just one short morning.

This event could not happen without the amazing, Mrs. Celia Orozco-Lopez. I appreciate her unending commitment to putting on a community building, fun event every year. Thank you to her husband and children, as I know we take her away from her family during this time. We are a blessed community.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow! Let's enjoy the day and raise lots of funds!

Peace and Blessings,

Ms. Francisco

El Rancho Logistics for Mr. Curry's Memorial- REMINDER
It is with great sadness that we share that Mr Dan Curry passed away last Friday, September 20, following a brave battle with cancer. Mr. Curry served the SJND community for 17years as Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, P.E. and health teacher, and as the beloved voice of the Pilots at many athletic competitions.

The morning of El Rancho there will be a memorial service for Mr.Curry. It is even more important that families consider carpooling, biking or walking to El Rancho. Parking will be very limited with both events happening.

Service details are below:

"Please join the SJND community as we honor and say goodbye to Mr. Curry. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5 at St. Joseph Basilica in Alameda. A reception will follow in Notre Dame Hall on the SJND campus. Rest in peace Mr. Curry.
CLASSROOM SPOTLIGHT
FIFTH GRADE- CLASS OF 2022
WELCOME TO THE FIFTH DIMENSION!

The fifth grade year is the year of learning how to adapt and be flexible.

This class of thirty-three student and their leader, Mrs. Gauntt, know that, "Flexible is Good! And...if you don't bend, you break!"

Fifth grade is the year that 1:1 devices are introduced to students. They learn how to exchange class assignments with their teachers online and how use their devices as tool enhancements in the classroom.

Fractions are also a big part of the fifth grade math curriculum. This week the students played a "work place" game where they learned how to add fractions with uncommon denominators.
