Allah swt said in surat (Alan-Am 6:161):
“Truly, my Lord has guided me to “ Din-an qiyam-an (A Right Religion, a Straight Path.”
The word qiyam in Arabic means values which refers to standards regarded as right, beautiful and good. Values play a paramount role on our behavior and serve as important guidelines. They determine our priorities in life and they are the yard stick by which we measure our success or failure.
Islam clearly establishes our code of conduct and the values we should live by.
Some of these values are: trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring and courage.
When our actions and words match our values would be good and we would feel satisfied. When they are not aligned we feel uncomfortable. Therefore to be truly satisfied, we must abide by the values established for us by Allah swt.
The message of all prophets was to teach the believers to have high moral standards and values and use our fitrah (innate sense) of what is right and wrong before making decisions.
It is incumbent upon us, as parents and teachers to teach our kids the uncompromising and constant Islamic values that they must always live by. Such values will help them in having inner peace, healthy relations, happy families and good communities.
We ask Allah swt for His tawfeeq to always help us to do what is pleasing to Him in this Dunia and Al-Akhirah..Ameen
